NismoNX2000 and myself started a mini-geekout thing at my place today. Thing is, we have a serious lack of tools. All we had were basic little tools and socket sets, a hydraulic jack, and a few jackstands. Anyway, on the to do list were: his driver's side half shaft, and to start my clutch.

I'll tell ya, these axle nuts are straight from hell. Ball joints can join the axle nuts there too. I don't know what's up with that stupid circlip at the end of the half shaft either. I pushed for minutes on end, as did John, then all of a sudden on a last ditch effort, it clicked in with little pressure. I don't get it.

Then, we started prepping my car for my clutch job. I estimate a good 14 hrs of labor or more ahead of me. Nissan Key Value clutches are garbage. I took off my strut bar, CAI, and wheels, and was about to remove the starter when my hope for the night got crushed. The boot on the passenger axle had ripped. This will be another 80 bucks on top of the 500 i just spend on my new parts!! This, combined with the fact we couldn't get the axle nuts off killed our drive for the night. I'm gonna see if I can borrow my neighbor's air tools and compressor tomorrow. :)

Thanks for listening to my venting!!

I feel your pain.
I was installing my shifter bushing today and got all the nuts I needed off except for the VERY LAST one!!! I strained and struggled and it didnt budge. I put it all back together and now I will wait for a better day.:(

One thing you should always have in you tool set are breaker bars. I have at least 3 of them and 2 of them join for a 5ft breaker bar. That and a pry bar should help things get along easily. Best of luck with the job.

A good pipe that just fits over your wrench and is about 2-3ft long... this will give you alot of leverage.

True, leverage would have been extremely helpful when it came to getting off taht stupid hub nut!! But instead we had to use brute force......it was one challenge after another. When it came to starting chris car, we figured since the axles have been changed before the hub nuts would come off more easily, well, we were wrong. and we were too tired to try and get it off manually like mine. So, im praying for air tools.
