I ran my '92 SE-R on Pocono's East road course last week. My car is stock, with the exception of urethane sway bar endlink bushings, and a set of Khumo Victoracer 700's [195/55-R14's] on stock SE-R wheels. I aligned the front end to 2 deg. neg. camber both sides, and 1/16th" toe out. My best lap time was a 1:22:21. I am going to Lime Rock next month. Does anyone have any lap times to compare with, from Pocono, Lime Rock, or Watkins Glen? Thanks.

Respectable times for a stock SE-R are as follows:

Watkins Glen long course
2:35 to 2:40 is respectable
Last year I turned a 2:27:xx with lots of engine and suspension mods.
Carson Hanrahan turned a 2:25:xx with less mods but lots more seat time at the Glen

Lime Rock
1:10 to 1:15
Never put a watch on my car but others with lots of mods and seat time are doing 1:01 to 1:05

Of course this is also highly dependant on driver ability. YMMV

Great reply Jim. It's a breath of fresh air, to hear some road course talk on this site. I've run Lime Rock three times, but never in my SE-R street car. I've only ever run my [don't laugh] '86 B11 Sentra, which is primarily used for ice racing on the upstate NY frozen lakes [www.icerace.com]. It is gutted, caged, 13 to 1 E16, twin 44 Mikuni's, slicks, stock [shortened] springs and shocks. It went 1:08's. I hope to run around 1:12's there in June, with the SE-R. Oh, by the way, I also used my '92 SE-R classic to win the AMEC "Street Legal" class championship on the ice this past winter. We run 1.5 mile road courses, and run wheel to wheel. I was able to stay out of trouble, and not get any body damage luckily! Yes, we did have the required minimum of 12" of ice thickness to run this winter, for six race days. Thanks again.:)

No laughing matter. A good friend of mine runs his B210 in some ice races in upstate NY. He's the original owner when his parents bought it for him while in high school. In typical Datsun fashion the body is all rust but still runs pretty good.

I'm still working out the bugs on my VE motor before I commit to any track time. Hopefully I'll be ready for the second half of the Trackmasters season.

......Two years later:

Jim,
Just found this thread again after all this time. Did you ever get you VE completed?

Oh yeah, I did get my SE-R out to Lime Rock as I said I was going to in this thread. I was really pleased that it went 1:09:1 with just the Victoracers and urethane end link bushings. Boy was I happy with that!

Completed, enjoyed for a couple years, and then sold to another forum member and friend last year. Jim has a kickass S14 now though. Check out the pics in his members gallery.

It seems to be a pattern I have seen over and over. They complete an all out SE-R and then sell it and do the same with a 240SX. Nothing like getting the "full experience". :biggthump

Thanks,
I did not yet have my Hot Lap in car timing system yet when I ran Watkins Glen. I wish I did because my V700's were fresh then and I ran really well there. Nice track! :biggthump
