lHey guys,

I have this valve tapping noise. I thought it was the timing chain guide but I took it off and the sound was still there. Its a valve tap at idle and still taps when i step on the gas but dissapers after 2500 rpms thats why i dont think its a rod. Could it possible be a lifter or two? This motor only has 550 miles on it. Im affraid is something serious. Its loud at first at cold start up then quiets down when warmed up but it still there. Another thing is its not continously the same loudness. It will quiet down then get loader I have no clue please help.

Tim

This motor is fully built its got everything new inside except for the lifters.

did you bleed the lifters when the motor was being built. the lifters are known for making a tapping sound when they have air in them.

not really. they will just tap their asses off. do you know how to bleed them? you need to pull them completely out of the engine and find a paper clip.

either than or they didnt put the shims back in correctly or you need new correct sized shims.
