: Spec V's?????
Mr_VVL 05-22-2002, 09:45 AM Hey,
I am not here to rag on anyones spec v's i am here to cast my opinion and brag on how i cream them....alot of spec v owners think they run shit cause they got 175 hp but when a real se-R comes along *** 140 puts that spankin on them its sad. i dont liek to consider the new spec v a se-r its a discrace even sport compact car said "they give this to us as an excuse for an Se-R" I find racing si's more interesting then spec v's there cute and i want thier rims (too bad wont fit) but as far as performance keep it all show :( have u guys raced spec v's???
slowSER 05-22-2002, 09:57 AM
ProjectSE-R 05-22-2002, 10:05 AM Thats funny.
You know whats even funnier, when I had my DE turboed with the BB kit running stock boost, I raced a Spec V and that guy hung with me dead up, side by side until I hit the middle of 2nd into the shift to 3rd. They are torque monsters and this subject has been dabbled in in several other threads. My question to you is, were they really racing? Those helical diffs are kind of nasty and if you get a good driver behind the wheel of the Spec V, especially one who knows the specs and optimum shift points to take full advantage of the insane torque, it will be hard, NA vs. NA, to take them on city streets. Highways may be different, but in city driving would definitely be a challenge.
98SERwTricks 05-22-2002, 11:32 AM All I know is this...
Spec Vs handle fawkin' awesome!!! I just don't like the low RPMs they have... Great torque though... Haven't really raced one though. I'll stick to SR20 power...
Benito Malito 05-22-2002, 12:13 PM They can run 15.0 with timing and aem intake man. that is pretty quick to me.
You will get them in fourth gear, cause they run out of steam I think.
Mr_VVL 05-22-2002, 12:38 PM I attend street races alot and i come across spec v's sometimes and i just waste them its disgusting they are slow...... now in hadeling i cant talk but as racing on the street cmon man please.... all i have is a cold air and i put the hurting on like 4 spec v's
99SENTRASER 05-22-2002, 01:06 PM i had a opportunity to see one at the track. i was i sacramento and saw one hit 15.3's consistently. he had an aem intake and exhaust.

Well there's the problem right there.
"Street racing" isn't racing.
Mr_VVL 05-22-2002, 01:21 PM Street racing isnt racing? just because u dotn pay 10 dollars to go to the track and get a fancy time slip means nuttin u have a flagger and u race untill 90 and if ur ahead u won thats not to hard now is it oh and 15.3 *** intake and exhaust and 175 hp hahahahha what a joke let me put in my sr16Ve and we will see what i drop piece of junk spec 'vs sorry just my opinion
99SENTRASER 05-22-2002, 01:30 PM [i]15.3 *** intake and exhaust and 175 hp hahahahha what a joke let me put in my sr16Ve and we will see what i drop piece of junk spec 'vs sorry just my opinion [/B]
what i meant was....15.3 is pretty good for a mainly stock car. i'm just showing my love for fellow nissans.
now if you wanna speak hypothetically...sr20det in a classic vs a supercharged spec-v. that would be a good race. i personnaly would put my money on the det.:D
PlanoSER 05-22-2002, 01:41 PM trust me, a stock SpecV will oWn a 96 SER with just CAI.
My friends stock SpecV hung within 2 cars of my car (14.7-14.8) every time we raced. In fact, i am now selling my car to get a specV.
Show us your timeslips, "SpecV killer" then we can compare. You gotta realize that on the streets, *MOST* ppl seriously cant race for d1ck. Ive come across this time and time again.

And you're entitled to your opinion.
Even if I disagree with it. Maybe especially if I disagree with it :)

uhh, have been to a 1/4 mi. track? there's a lot more to it than a "fancy timeslip". it a freakin' science for cryin' out loud!! the tarmac is decidedly different than street asphalt. i'm sure you don't have a pre-stage/stage area for the street, which takes time to master on the track. what happens if you lose control @ 90 mph on the street? someone gets hurt and now you have to wait for paramedics to show up! guess what? the ambulance sits @ the end of the dragstrip where i race! yes i have raced on a street, but i don't condone "street races". spec v's aren't pieces of junk they're just not designed to drag, plain and simple.
99SENTRASER 05-22-2002, 02:46 PM is this gonna be another one of those stupid spec-v vs sr20 arguments? as far as the street racing crap...i think you watched fast and furious too many times...go to the track and have some fun...if you bought a spec-v and can't afford the $15 buck to race, than you've got a prolem. i have EMT experience under my belt and street racing isn't vey pretty when you crash. but who cares....go race....just make sure nobody else t-bones you at an intersection while you riding around with you're family because of some stupid kids street racing.....oh wait.....it won't happen to you huh......???? welcome to the real world.:o
eric96ser 05-22-2002, 06:25 PM All racing depends on the driver. I can beat a Viper or a Vette if the person in the other car can't drive. Take it to the track. Street racing is illegal. It can get you hurt, arrested, or someone else killed.
Storm88000 05-22-2002, 07:36 PM My friend just ran a 15.2 in his Spec V, all stock except for an AEM CAI. That is fast in my book. Let's see a B14 do a 15.2 with just a CAI. Not gonna happen.
Benito Malito 05-22-2002, 08:00 PM I think they are pretty quick. The hs header will be out in a few weeks I hear. This should put some people into 14 second times at the track.
They obviously handle better than b14's and probably b13's too. The P10 chassis may still get the nod in overall handling. That would be a good contest for handling; Spec vs. old school G20
When they have ecu's, and cams available we will see about the spec v's potential. Though a well bolted 200 will really shine on a spec v at over 100mph. I'm telling you ;)

The one and only time I ever ran a car at the track (read: drag newbie) was my '97 SE-R, 1 year after I bought it new, with only ONE mod, place racing CAI. I launched best I could and pulled a 15.5 on the stock worn out RSA's!! Keep in mind I really sucked at the time, not to mention being a little nervous. Needless to say I was impressed.
Ahhh N/A, those were the days...:D
Storm88000 05-23-2002, 02:50 AM Good time, Thomas.
Hell, I ran a 15.4 @ 88 in my heavy ass 98 SE with just a CAI and header.

Sport Compact magazine made that statement about the regular Se-r, not the spec V. If you read the "short" article carefully, you would notice that they mentioned the 140hp engine (our SR20DE) not the 175hp 2.5 liter.
