Ok, I don't know whats worse in my dilemma right now. I just can't believe what's happening!

1) Either the Jim Wolf Pressure Plate from Courtesy is EXACTLY like my Key Value Pressure Plate, or someone swapped out the JWT one for a crummy one.

2) I'm so stupid. I thought my clutch was blown (it wasn't), but it was really a broken axle.

I have pictures from every angle of how the Key Value Pressure plate is identical to the "JWT" PP I received from Courtesy. Down to the part numbers engraved onto the teeth, to the stamps on the part....EVERYTHING is identical. The fabled JWT plate came in a plain white box with a "JimWolfTechnology" sticker on one end.

Anyway, I realized my axle was broken when, while disassembling my car, it fell into two pieces and the splines were pretty much nonexistant. At the time, I thought nothing of it, and decided to troop on anyway. After all, a "JWT PP" was sitting right there begging to be installed. My Key Value clutch has slipped marginally from Day 1 anyway. To my surprise, when I got to the clutch, it was perfect. Like new....the disc was hardly worn. This is when I realized that I let this SE-R sit for almost 3 weeks was because of a stupid little axle  Then, to add insult to injury, the DAMNED PRESSURE PLATE WAS EXACTLY LIKE MY KEY VALUE ONE!!!! WHAT THE HELL?????

So, a call in the A.M. to Courtesy will hopefully solve things: I.E. Full refund. In the meantime, I put on the newer disc (it looked to have more surface area) with my original Key Value PP, and a new T.O. bearing. Lining up that tranny is a biotch! And how in the world do you take out the speedo cable from the tranny? I couldn't figure it out for the life of me, so it ended up being pulled right out of its sheath  With any luck at all, my speedo will still work :(

EDIT: I'll upload the digital photos later....gotta find the software for the camera!!

Thats odd. Is the JWT PP white? My JWT PP was white when I got it a few years ago. I also heard that the JWT PP was some other brand of a pressure plate, possibly clutchmasters - that was rebadged. I could be talking out of my ass though. Can't remember.

Nope. It was silver with black teeth, exactly like my Nissan Key Value one.

Yes the JWT PP should be white. And yes it is made by clutchmaster.

Whoa! Were'd you here that? It is my understanding that JWT does all of their research &* development in house. And as far as the pressure plate goes, they take a stock OEM Nissan pressure plate and modify the spring pressure as well as the clamping force of the pressure plate, paint it white and packages it up.

This gives them the ability to keep the clutch pedal effort very light compared to stock and still very street-able, yet has more force on the disk.

Clutchmasters? Since when?

I am pretty sure that it is made by Clutchmaster to JWT specs.

Don't go by the part numbers and markings engraved on the PP. The spring and fulcrum point on the JWT PP are modified from a OEM PP so that clamping force is increased

As far as the speedo goes, you can just pull it out like you did. The right way is to just unscrew the base. I used a pliers to get it out. But you can do it like you did. What you have to do is look at the end of the speedo cable and you will see that there is only one way it will fit back in. If you don't get it right it won't work. It took me like 6 try's to finally get my speedo to work. Now that end is the same end that goes to the instrument cluster, so make sure that end is in first. You won't hurt anything if you don't get it right the first time. You just have to keep trying it and take it out for a test drive to see if the speedo works.

OK, so a JWT is definitely supposed to be white?

oh, and BORNGEARHEAD, thanks for your reply. Its good to know I won't have to buy a new speedo cable and not to panic if my speedo doesn't work :) Best news I've heard in a while!

I think the older JWT PPs were white. My JWT PP is also silver. Bought it from Courtesy Nissan last summer. Definitely looked different than the OE pressure plate that came off of my NX. I knew it was a JWT PP by how pansy the clutch pedal feel is. :D

well, my Key Value clutch is ridiculously light too...

That is a DAIKIN manufactured pressure plate Not Nissan, but made for people who sell Nissan replacement clutches and kits. That is a non-OEM replacement pressure plate. I received the same plate with my $99 C.A.P. Clutch Kit from Puerto Rico. www.capclutch.com

Look at the logo on the casing then go to the link below for DAIKIN Australia.

The pressure plate manufactured by DAIKIN is 560 Kg clamping force compared to the stock Nissan 450 Kg clamping force.

Ok, i just got off the phone with JWT. He said that they now just modify Nissan units and sell them as JWT. Seems a little fishy to me. Either way, I don't need this so I'm returning it :o

That is what JWT always did. Atleast that is what I have heard since back in 1996.

Good info, Brandon. Thanks for that. Well, at the very least, i have a better disc in there now...hopefully that will solve my slippage problem.

Don't diss the JWT Pressure Plate because it is based on a production part.... most pressure plates made by most clutch companies are done this way.

This is a good thing.. You get the extra clamping force you are looking for, and the PP is made by a OEM-certified Tier 1 automotive supplier. Believe me, you are much better off buying a part that is produced by a ISO9000 Tier 1 supplier with OEM oversight than by bubba's clutch shop.

Like I say, most aftermarket clutch companies start with an OEM piece and modify it to suit their needs.

brian, i didn't doubt you. Thank you mucho for gettin these parts to me :)

Anyway, the car is all back together, and it feels fantastic. But, I'll keep my Key Value PP, thank you. I can use the 200+ dollars for other things :) I'm so F-ing happy!!!
