If you get the 10:1 jdm engine, it will have a few more ponies than the US one. But normally, the JDM engines have between 30k-60k miles on them.

I have one, and it has held up real nice for about 30k miles. BTW, I have no idea how many miles were on it when I bought it, but I requested an auto SR20, I figure it would be less ragged on...its probably never seen redline prior to being in my car :) All I had to do was swap the flywheel.

Good thnking. That would be something a lot of us would not have immediately thought about when ordering one.

Actually, I don't think I would do that. The SR20 seems to like being ragged on. There have been reports of SR20 engines from G20s going bad from gunking up. The theory is that a lot of the G20s are automatics and people don't drive them hard. Since the oil flow is less at lower RPMs, the cam oiling tubes eventually plug up. I think George Roffe bought a G20 with a bad engine. If he reads this, maybe he can elaborate.

It is accepted practice to run the SR20 up to redline once a day. Multiple times in my case. :D

Agreed, the auto G20's driven by women in their 40's+ tend to have sludge/oil starvation problems.

how can you tell they have a 10:1 compresion?

you know what maybe thats what happened to my car the heads where knocking and there was like no compresion on the number 2 piston when i bought it. so i could never redline it or push it so i drove it for awhile like that and the problem go bad and my mechanic said there wasn't much oil going around the engine (something like that)

Hey Josh, good to see the money is going towards a good cause. :D ;)

BTW,
From what I have seen the JDM engines are actually cheaper than American ones. Probably because of getting it smogged, and the sources that would have american vs those that have JDM engines.

I think a $20 bill taped to where your EGR should be would probably pass most inspections. I think i saw that in the FSM ;) .

This is where I like to chime in again...I paid $260 for my JDM engine :) I think either K Watanabe had too many engines and wanted to get rid of them, or I just got lucky. :D

I just called them and that is the price they currently are selling them at! That is a steal. I need to go down there in the next few days to get one if anyone wants me to pick one out for them.

How can you tell you are getting a 10:1 primera or a 9:5 primera motor? Are the Valve cover's different?
