I just bought a B&M short shifting kit does anybody already have one on a 200sx? Does it even matter what kind of short shifting kit you get and how much better or quicker do you shift.

I have the OBX one. Although it seems no one else on the forum has it, my short shifter works great and it fit in there pretty good. I have yet to change my shifter bushing though, so its not "super smooth" like the other guys who have changed their bushings. I bought mine on eBay for $40.

I have the SMC. I like the shortness of the shift. get a bushing to put in on the install. it make a great difference.

I just have the shifter bushing and that in itself helps a lot. I will be doing the B$M shifter soon.

I have the B&M shifter though I dont have it installed at the moment, currently I have a piece of SH$% Aerospeed which I bought off of ebay for 40 bucks, the bolt that connects to the shifter linkage came loose, while I was driving down the road and fell out, leaving my car stuck in fourth gear. This was primarily due to the fact that you have to use a bolt that they include with the shifter. Later I found the bolt (in the exhaust heat shield) and rigged it back up, though I quickly ordered a B&M shifter in case it happens again. The B&M unit looks to be a real quality piece of work, the difference is night and day. This all falls back to the old saying that you get what you pay for, and at 40 dollars you really should not expect to get much.

Good choice with the B&M, I seriously doubt you'll be disatisfied.

Oh my god what a surprise arospeed deals nothing but shit. I bought some of those wires online from them and they suck ass. I had to cut a good 3 inches off the bottom of the probe thing so they would actually FIT on the plugs. And they are way too damn long and hang over my whole engine. I was lookin for a short shifter on ebay and saw those and turned my nose up and bid on the OBX. Works great.

I just ordered a B&M ss and I hope it'll work well. I wanted an SMC one, but I think the B&M will do. Not sure the difference between the 2.

I have a pacesetter and I like it (and the bushing made a big "feel" difference)... the b&m's are really nice, but they are expensive... oh and the reason why nobody really has obx or arospeed is because they are notorious for breaking

My obx is good. OBX makes good parts. Maybe not as good as stillen, but still good none-the-less. I'm not just saying that because I own one either. A lot of my friends have obx and work great.

I know at least 2 people with an OBX short shifter (one nissan, one honda) and had it snap in two, right above the ball... In my opinion they are crap and I wouldn't waste my money or take a chance of being stranded...

I have the C's short shifter on mine. Had it since 1996, it was one of the first one's made for B14's at the time thats why i spent major $$ on it..But it feels just as crisp and engages into gears almost with a nice smooth click like the first day i installed it..not notchy at all like a SMC's SS. But some people like that hard notchy feel..

just my .02

I have the SMC short shifter. Paid a crapload for it. I tend to like the notchyness of the shifter. The shifter is adjustable in it's throw lenght, although to adjust it you have to remove the shifter from the car and reinstall it all over.

I believe the difference between the SMC and the B&M is that the SMC is adjustable and the B&M is not. I don't believe the SMC shifters are available anymore.

SMC is the one that is identical to pacesetter. They bought the right to make it exactly. Unlike the hs g1 header, which they stole. Either SMC or Stillen I forget, but one is the same as the ps. SMC is supposed to be a quality one iirc.
