hmm, like the name says, im kinda confused. After piddling around and getting some 900 grit sandpaper and alot of carelful elbow grease and some steel wool and a towel, i made my letters on my valve cover really nice looking. well i showed my dad when i got home, and he liked it and said he could try to get me the stuff to polish it if i want him to. well i like the polished look, but then again its a hell of a lot of work, and it seems like alot of people have it. also one of my concerns is the valve cover going back to how it looks, a dull metal color. i think i remember hearing that you can use a clearcoat on it. but thats alot of money and time spent on just for that look( which is a nice look at that). but heres what i was thinking. ive checked into a powdercoating buisness by me, and they will powdercoat it for 30 bucks( not bad at all!!) and they can mask off the letters. so here is what i think i would like. i would make the letters as shiny as i can, maybe even polish them basically the best i can, id get some different grits and some polishing stuff. then, have them mask off the letters on the valve cover, and have it powdercoated white. for some odd reason i think it would look really nice with polished letters and the rest white. my cars white too, so i think it would look really nice. and for 30 bucks? not bad at all considering it would cose almost double if not more to buy everything to polish it. so what do you think? also i think whenever i come around to get more hp id want a cai thats polished. i think that would look nice. by the way, is there any other cai thats polished besides the hotshot one? thanks alot. later guys!

A white valve cover in an area that is subject to oil and other fluids spilling on it not to mention all the grit and grime in an engine bay will not stay clean. In 6 months it wouldn't look good at all.
I have had my entire engine polished before to the luster of a polished valve cover. Head, block, manifold, CAI, etc. Using a little Meguirs polish will bring it back to looking great. You can have Magmasters (http://www.magmasters.com) polish it for $30 or so. A picture of my engine is actually on their site, but a better picture can be found here (http://www.se-r.net/multimedia/pictures/li_meet_98/chuck2.jpg).
On my current car I had the valve cover powder coated silver instead of polishing and it looks great too!!

I wanted to polish mine but its too much work. And since I have a bad wrist I woud probably get half done and be in extreme pain. For $30 get that mofo powdercoated! Not white though.
Or chrome dip it...lol!

i polished it, then i realized it still wasn't as shiny as i wanted to be. my only option was to get it chromed.
