Has anyone measured how hot the intake manifold on a B13 gets after constant use? I ask because I'm gonna paint mine with high temperature paint. There are two choices: one is good up to 500 degrees and the other up to 1500 degrees. I tend to think that the 500 degree paint should be sufficient.

if your using those off the shelf engine paints for this i hope its for looks rather than functional purpose. If you wanted some type of heat barrier i would use swaintech or jet hot coating they will protect you manifold from heat as well as corrossive materials and look nice as well. It will prolly give u a cooler intake charge because it helps resist radiating heat. Popel use these coatings on turbos, manifold and piping etc.

The 500 degree paint will be good enough. I borrowed an infrared temp. sensor and checked mine about a month ago at the dragstrip, 173 degrees 2 minutes after a run.

Yes, it is just for looks and corrosion protection. I thought about the coatings but decided against it for my intake.

Just measured my intake manifold with an infrared thermometer. I did it within two minutes after shutting my car off. 80 degree day.
Runners averaged around 140 degrees. CAI before the MAF was ambient. Near throttle body was around 94 degrees.
