: Canadian SR20's??
CanadianG 05-23-2002, 11:42 PM I need to locate a sr20de in a scrap yard. Has anyone seen them before. Its like they are the rarest engines around or something. I have seen millions of KA24's GA16's but no sr20's. I desperately need to locate an intake manifold. Do the highport Sr20's come in anything besides a nx2000 and a g20? I am yet to be confirmed that sentras in canada have the sr20 1991-993. Has anyone seen them in a scrap yard or know where I can get a manifold?

madburner 05-24-2002, 12:52 AM As far as I know, the classic sentras (B13) did not have an SR20 engine in Canada just like you suspected, but sorry, I can't give you a definite confirmation.:(
Is it difficult to switch to a lowport engine? What would be needed for the switch?
CanadianG 05-24-2002, 03:32 AM I have no idea how much work it would take to switch over. However soewhere down the line the OBD1 and OBD2 come into play and I'm not messing with that.
i've seen 2 SR20's in scrap yard, both G20's
in cookstown scrap yard. both high port SR20's
and last time i checked, engine bay is in tact not to mention leather seats, so u might wanna go for that too
but that was awhile ago

Where is cookstown with respect to Toronto? Which scrapyard is it? Do you live near this cookstown? If you were ever to go back there again I would probablly ask you to look at some stuff for me in those G20's. Hell, I'd probably drive down there.

I have not seen any in scrap yards. I haven't seen any sentras by that fact with sr20's. Unless they were b14's or newer.

Glad to hear that the swap will be taking place soon. It would be great if I could get that manifold off of you. I have found a few of them on the net but figured if I looked around I could find a better price than what they were asking. How is your car driving? No EGR problems? Car still quick? How much were you lookin get get for the manifold

Im having some serious hesitation problems with my car. Its been in pretty bad shape for over the last year. I took it to the dealer and the only suggestion that they had was to swap out my plugs. $300 later my car still runs like @$$. I test drove a '91 G20 a few months ago and truss me that thing hauled @$$, big time. I t was so fast I dreaded driving my car home from the dealer after that. I knew there was something wrong and seeing Infiniti doesnt wanna fix it I have to take measures into my own hands. My sticker was up for renewal in March so I took it for emissions and it failed badly let me tell you:

I dont know whats wrong with the damn car. It feels like its sticking around 2300-3800 RPM and as soon as it hits 3800 RPM it feels like a slingshot or an elastic band and the car drives again. I know it feels like a fuel problem. I tried the EGR valve fix by plugging the vacuum hose with a screw and that didnt help. I dont trust the 2 dealers near me so I (1) either need to find another Nissan dealer, (2) fix it my damn self or (3) Drop in the DET which I will be short of the money for the just incase funds on the install.
So I am opting to completely do an intake manifold cleaning from scratch. I also am purchasing an O2 sensor and a Catylitic convertor next week when I get my car back from the bodyshop.

Hey, as long as he gets the best deal, that's all that matters. I wasn't even going to sell anything on my engine, just keep it as parts, but I'm sure he needs the manifold more than I do.
Stewart, as for how my car runs, it pulls like crazy, to me it's very fast (not fast enough, of course:D ), and runs great. The only problem is that when the car is cold, I have a very jumpy idle, like if I rev it, the RPM's will drop and she'll almost stall (never has though). I think it's the EGR, but I'm not sure.
If you want, maybe I'll come down next weekend and I'll let you take her for a spin and maybe we'll go by the junkyards if you want.
PS - Look at my sig and that will tell you how my car runs. I think she's even faster now (feels like it).
Remember I told you about the '87 Jetta with a VR6, intake, full exhuast, and I still destroyed him.:D

FastNX 05-25-2002, 11:43 PM dave , i had the same problem with the idle jumping around like that. it is the BPT valve or whatever it is called, it is on the passenger side of the intake manifold like kinda under the oil filter. you need to take it out, test the 2 solenoids, replace them if necessary and q-tip the inside of the housing of the vavle. a big pain to get it off and even worse gerring it back on but it works liek a charm. dont think it would be worth it since you're swapping motors though

My car is slow as a$$ lately. I hope it smartens up when I do the 02 sensor and cat. If not does anyone know how hard it is to remove the intake manifold with the engine in the car? I think I might try it when my baby return this week.:p
FastNX 05-26-2002, 10:19 AM i think it would be difficult but it could be done. there are a bunch of brackets that hold the bottom of the IM to the motor, i dont know why they're there, but if you go under the car and look up you can see them
