I know alot of you have this problem. Your headlights are a little faded and yellow. How in the world do you clean those things up? I was watching Motorweek a couple months ago, and they had a headlight cleaning kit. It consisted of several different grades of sandpaper, some plastic cleaner, and plastic polish. The demonstrated it on t.v. and it worked great. I have tried waxing mine and using plastic cleaner.

Any suggestions on how we can get those to look new(er)?

Thanks in advance.

Mcguiar's makes a two part plastic polish and cleaner. Works for cd's(my #1 use for it), jeep plastic windows and those plastic headlights on cars. I used it on my wife's 626 and it did wonders for her lights. Takes a little elbow grease but it works well. I thinks shuck's, kragen, and checker's carries it. Apply the cleaner first then the polish. That's it!

Meguiars does make some quality stuff, any other suggestions. I was hoping to hear something about sand paper. They tried it out on a 93 mustang and it did wonders. Meguiars sounds like a good alternative.

I did this:

take the damn things off your car.
get some 1000 grit and 2000 grit sandpaper.
go to your sink and wet sand with the 1000 grit first
then wet sand with the 2000 grit.
all kinds of crazy gel-like plastic residue will be everywhere
dry the lens
polish with scratch remover
then polish with regular car wax.
BAM!!!
just like grandma used to make!!!!

these were as yellow as a lemon.
now they shine shine shine.:D

keep in mind the inner housing is painted black.

I've got the nis knacks projector lamps, so they are no longer available.

They are available elsewhere, you just need to look. Do a search in the forum and you may come up with some answers.

I had the SAME problem. I can explain how I did it, but I don't think you'll be able to accomplish it. Reason being is I scored this adapter from my work that they use to take hairline scratches out of the airplane windows. I use it teamed up with some finese, and really light sand paper.

First thing I did was wet the headlights, then while keeping a steady stream of water on them get to sanding. (yes I know the technique is called "wet sanding")

Next I dry them off, and apply the finese. Once I have a nice coat of that on there I hit it with my handy dandy drill attachment. I buff it for a while with plenty of elbow grease, and then let the stuff dry.

Buff off, and if you need repeat the steps.

I too thought about just replacing the lights, but found this to be a cheaper/ easier alternative.
