I cleaned my TB like I do every Spring. This time, I had some leftover FoliaTec red paint and pulled the MAF sensor out of the housing and painted the housing red (it looks great, btw). However, my wife knocked over the table where the MAF sensor was sitting and it clunked onto the floor. I reinstalled everything and the car is running terrible (won't idle, stalls, hesitates, basically undriveable).
Questions:
Is it that easy to damage (is it that sensitive)?
Could it be just trying to get the gunk out when I was cleaning the TB? (it usually doesn't take this long!)
Thanks,

The MAF filament inside is sensitive to hard hits, just look at the 1999 Impreza WRX and it's MAF vibration problems. I don't know if Jim Wolf can rebuild it, other wise it's time to check out a junk yard or try to buy one in the SR20DE sale forum. If you got paint on the inside of it then that may be your problem. If paint covers the filament/sensor then it won't read properly. Hope this helps a smig.

okay, thanks for the info. I didn't paint anything inside... just the exterior of its housing.
When I picked it up after taking the fall, it looked a little bent... I'm checking the locals for a replacement as we speak...

Sorry it happened bloke. :( I hate to hear about this stuff. Did you check the plug for bent connections? Just a last ditch though.

Get an MAF from a classic. The 200sx is different. The harness has a different plug.
