i'm planning to fit my fidanza flywheel to my VE next weekend, but got a question over the bolts. Will the VE flywhhel retaining bolts fit, or do I need to buy a new set of DE one...?

The VE comes with a flex plate on it. For an auto transmission. The bolts are way too short so you need the DE ones to fit. Also the fidanza will throw your CEL light on a obd2 car so I would recommend the JWT unit because it has the right number of teeth on the ring gear of the fly.

Mines OBD1, so that's not going to be a problem.
But that's for the info on the bolts. Looks like I best find a new set...

Right, but I bet your SR16 had a manual transmission before. The SR20VE comes with an automatic, and the flexplate bolts are too short.

Hi just wondering what is obd2 and obd1

91-94 SE-R are all OBD 1 (1 O2 sensor)

95+ are OBD 2 (2 O2 sensors)

Cars from the USA have that older car are ODB1 after 95 it's ODB2 for good old smog. simply put it was done for emissions.

I know it's been said, but let me summarize.

SR20VE - Comes with CVT ONLY - Uses a flexplate - Don't use the bolts!
SR16VE - Came with 5 speed - Uses a flywheel - Bolts should be fine

Any SR20DE 5 speed flywheel bolts will work!

make sure whatever flywheel you are getting is the right one. A friend of mine thought he was getting the new one which won't throw the cel and asked the company, but they still sent him one that threw his cel. He was a little pissed.
