At least you weren't "feeling the knob." Sorry I had to. :teehee:
CovertRussian,
That's a great looking SEL. :biggthump
chiquae07 03-05-2007, 12:45 AM looks nice. i notice that you and i have the same air filter at the moment. i did that mod before i got my aem cai. it works fine. but make sure to get rid of the rest of the stock intake, unless you get snow or lots of rain in your area. thats the only reason i install that piece before winter comes, to block snow.

Haha... some knobs feel better than others ;)

I'm really hoping your not feeling the knob, otherwise it would be just a tiny bit awkward :ugh:

Thanks swiss, greatly appreciated :D

Thanks chiquae07 :D.
Yeah I got the filter at Autozone for like $25, then I had to get an adapter to fit the filter into the stock air senser thingy, that was $11.
Now I did consider replacing the tubes at first too, but then one of my coworkers told me that I might not need to do that if the stock tubing is clean inside. Or do you mean the air box which the filter is sitting on?
I live in Rockingham Co. VA, we barely get snow, rain is not too big either. We had a few snowfalls this year, but it was around 3".
Also do you guys know of any dangers keeping the filter on year round? I heard some people take it off in the winter etc. Do they do it because the filter might pick up snow and rain, or is there another reason for it?
Thanks a lot! :D
Little mods I'm planning to do:
- MAF sensor rewiring
- Painting the top of the engine block blue, I have brake caliber paint left over :jammin:
- Not a mod but gas millage stab - Cleaning the throttle body
Now from what I understand, a new better/lighter flywheel will help the engine rev up quicker, but isn't that worse because say then I have to shift to second not say 40mph but at like 30mph? Please put me on the right train of thought :)
SLOW SR_ 03-05-2007, 08:27 PM You want to rev higher and faster, invest in a JWT ECU upgrade.
Nice and clean SEL.
The shifter looks fine even if it does glow.;)
chiquae07 03-06-2007, 08:54 AM the rest of the box is what i use during the winter to block snow. the filter is fine al year round, but i've found that even using the air box to block the snow, some has hit my filter as well. a bypass valve is definetely needed.
and looking over your engine bay, you need a front strut bar. it helps soo much.
n1smojunkie 03-06-2007, 11:07 AM Love the color. Looks really good. :biggthump

Thanks a for the compliments :D

Yeah I guess that makes sense, just in case i'm going to hold on to the box, :). I'll see about the front strut bar :)

Thanks a lot :D . I love the color and my gf likes it, so I'm satisfied :D

I agree but also to rev even faster JWT Fly wheel. It Rocks.

Interesting :). Man I might as well get a savings account and start saving money for all the upgrades that I want to do.
SLOW SR_ 03-07-2007, 02:03 PM How much is one of those?
I think that they are $550 if you get it directly from JWT,but I got mine on EBAY for $375 shipped.
If you go the EBAY route, make sure the seller shows you a picture of the ECU inside to make sure its legit.

Would this still give me a reliable daily/long trip driver?
SLOW SR_ 03-07-2007, 04:51 PM Yes it will, all the upgrade does is adjust the fuel/air ratio for a broader powerband, eliminates the speed limit of 109mph,and raises the redline from 7100 to 7800.You have to use premium fuel in order not to knock/ping,but thats a small sacrifice compared to the gains you get.
Hands down, the best mod I have done to the car so far.Daily driving 100 miles roundtrip like I do, it is the perfect mod for mild bolt ons.
If thats too expensive you can grab a G20 ECU in order to get a higher redline and eliminate the speed cut-off.It wont however, touch the air/fuel ratio like the JWT ECU does.

I higher red line is always nice :D. The premium fuel thing does suck :(, esp since gas prices are going back up.
Does an ECU give good HP that you can actually feel?
chiquae07 03-07-2007, 08:58 PM if im correct, the sr20 in the 99 limited is the roller rocker correct? then if that is the case, in order to rev to 7500+, you need springs and cams minimum. idk how different the 99 Se-L's ecu differs from the b15 se ecu. but i know that with mine i have to get a stand alone, go g20 route, or wire up the car with a b14 harness. thats going to be a mess.

I don't think I'll be going the New ECU route, premium fuel is the one that kills it for me lol.
But I am considering a new header, possibly JWT S4 cams (but how much horsepower do they actually add?).
I am also interested in the SR20VE engine, starting out at 190 HP is much better then 140. I don't want my Sentra to be super fast (don't want to get too many tickets), but fast enough to take any civic or possibly V6's.

Incorrect,I have run up to 7400-7500 on previous occasions with no signs of trouble. And its springs and retainers, not cams. The B15 SR20 cannot use the JWT ECU,sucks for them. The 98-99 SE's can use the JWT ECU upgrade with no issue.

Yes,the difference it makes on the motor is like night and day, better throttle response, quicker acceleration. The premium fuel is a small price to pay for the gains.:biggthump
CovertRussian 03-08-2007, 07:50 PM I'm thinking about it, just really like the premium fuel thing :(
