andris 05-26-2002, 07:39 PM what kind of dyno was it on? what kind of correction factor was used?

Im not 100% sure. But I will find out and post it.
Im still in the learning stage of the Dyno thing.
11 other SE-Rs were there.
how did you make an exhasut for $25?
One of my friends cousin owns his own muffler shop and hooked up a 2.25 crush bent exhaust from the cat to the muff.
All for a friendly discount of $25.

So far what I know is that it was an elevated dyno.
The car was put on a lift and lifted to the roller.
It was very hot outside as well but the dyno was inside a garage.
LogicalRetard 05-26-2002, 08:40 PM Hehe...asshole :D. Good job man! It was nice meeting you. It was a standard chassis dyno.
Bowlcut 05-26-2002, 08:58 PM well not like that jdm engine makes that much of a difference.

From past dynos I have seen of JDM engines it really doesnt.
And if it did, then just add $500 to my tab.

Way to go man! Wished I was there. Thats it I need to organize a dyno meet in NC and VA!!!
92_Sentra 05-26-2002, 09:59 PM HELL YEA Smooth Daddy! It was awesome today. I loved watching it go up hoping it would get the extra 1hp and actually Gaining 10hp from the last time!! You did a great job tuning it. People can say what they want, but lets see how much money they put in their car to get to 149hp. ;)

Serban 05-26-2002, 10:33 PM Figgy FIGS!!!!
That was impressive, I need to catch up to you :)
I said in Tampa, and I will say it on here, Jon, you are the king of al that is GHETTO....more power to you!!!
EDITED TO STOP A BIG, UNEEDED PISSING MATCH
Serban 05-26-2002, 11:21 PM Matt, you have to realize that since Orlando, Rob got cams and Andreas tinkered with his car...I think that 10+hp was well gained :)
nj1266 05-26-2002, 11:31 PM JDM engines have been known to come with a 0.5 higher compression ratio, not all of them, but some of them. Also some JDM engines have been owned by people who modified their cars with aftermarket JDM cams.
I remember distinctly that someone in SoCal bought a JDM and found out that it had aftermarket cams. Kojima looked at the cams and verified that they were JDM only cams.
I suspect that you might have both a higher compression and after market cams and you do not know about it. These two would give you 10-14 hp across the power band.

Wait a minute, is smoothfigdaddy Rob?? If so he did not mention any cams in his initial post. If he has cams, then these numbers are believable.
llaprad1 05-26-2002, 11:34 PM Good deal.
Not to rain on anyones parade, but power is just one factor in aftermarket mods.
Longevity is one thats overlooked. Fitiment. Throttle response and driveablilty.
Not that any of these are applicable, but peak hp numbers mean less than what most make them out to be.
But otherwise, nice going!

ooooh...ok, I see, Rob called Matt to tell him about Figgy's runs...sorry everyone I am tired.
I think there are a few reasons Figgy got 10 more hp...In orlando, he never got a chance to let the car cool down before the dyno runs, here it sat for a good 3 hours...second, he had 14s on here, 16s on back in Orlando, third, he has a different GHETTO intake...4th (maybe) he advanced the timing.
Correct me if I am wrong Fig
And BTW..Rob (SE-Rican) put down some impressive numbers himself 150+
andris 05-26-2002, 11:51 PM also - proper correction factor as i mentioned before? There are a lot of inaccurate dyno results because of tricked or incorrect correction factors/weather info, etc... Plus, if it wasn't a standard dynojet model that most dynos are done on, the numbers mean nothing for comparison's sake. The only way to compare two runs is if they are done on the same dyno. The numbers seem awfully high for intake/header/exhaust. The .5 compression increase isn't worth very much.. Some JDM motors have arrived over here with Aftermarket cams ( i think someone around here got some mild todas or Tomeis) which often explains the 'ringer' motors.

Stiletto 05-26-2002, 11:52 PM Jon...YOU SUCK!!! ;) :D
