So I drove my friend's Sentra E this weekend on a 300 mile drive.
I have to say I was impressed! It definitely doesn't have quite the power of the SR20-DE, but it's a very smooth and quiet engine.
I think a lot of that has to do with my performance intake and exhaust system on the SE-R significantly increasing the noise level inside. Also, we got close to 38 mpg with three passengers and luggage. All in all, I have to say the "lower level" Sentra with the GA-16 ain't bad.

I would never like to go back after having my SE-R. I just wish the SR20DE was availible in a 4 door in the Classic body style. Don't get me wrong, I love my SE-R......but I am a big believer in the 4 Door Sports Car Theory. Everyone I know wants to ride in my car when we go somewhere.....it gets kinda old having to get out and then let the boyz in the back fall out. But engine wise, the ga16 compared to the honda D16.....the GA is so much torquier. My 1.6 auto with 110hp 108tq would stomp the crap outta my friend 99ex auto with 127hp and 108tq.

im dieing to find me an old sentra e for a work horse. not only that but to be the base for a race car eventualy. get me an E to save miles on my car, it gets better gas mileage, and i can beat on it and not worry about getting stranded. not only that but i know b13's a little bit and dont want to have to learn something else like a civic/crx and be at a learning disadvantage for a while. then eventaly it will get stripped out and gutted for swaping in something big like a massive det or ve for a race car. now to just fine me one for dirt cheap

I have to admit, I like my car alot, and with the DIY CAI and advanced timing I do pretty well with it. Now that I've put new shafts and clutch in I hate to sell it and get a classic SE-R but when the time comes that's what'll have to happen. I know what you mean about quiet. Before the CAI you couldn't hardly tell if it was running.
