i was driving about 60-65 on the freeway and i down shift to third, redline then shift to fourth and keep it there till about 7k rpm got off gas and put it into neutral.. then my car stalled.. i slowed down to about 50 and start up the car and hear this loud knocking coming from the engine.. so i crusied to the exit.. then drove to a parking lot to park it, so my question is what is wrong and how can i fix it? an estimate on how much it would cost would be a big plus also.. thanx everyone

Ok now the first thing i would do is take the Valve cover out. It most likely one rocker flyout.

I hear thats what spun bearings sound like and it occurs under the same conditions that you described. Spun bearings is quite common among sr20s

Check the rocker arms. If it were a rod knock you would hear the banging on the block not under the VC! (speaking from experience:( )

Sounds like you went to 3rd gear then 2nd, then the stall then to forth with the noise.

Cause I always take 4th to the redline and the car never stalls out and knocking sound is not present!

If this is the case, I would say

1. You broke/Throw the rockers.
2. Maybe valve floating>??? <-- not too sure about that.
3. Hit Gov in fourth, thus the stall but can't understand why the sound is there.
BUT POP OPEN THE VC!!

First check your dip stick after starting the car or drain a little bit of oil out on paper towel and if you see gold flakes you spun a bearing.

i check the oil and i didnt see any flakes so i dont think i spun a bearing

i know i went to fourth cause i was on it for quite a bit.. it was kinda up hill too so i think my rockers flew out since i keep it at high rpm so long.. but im gettin it towed home and when i do.. **** pop the vc and see whats going on.. i hope it isnt so serious but i want a to do jdm swap hehe
