im considring "opening up" either the hood or under the drivers side headlight (ie like the turbo's turbo sentra) to allow cool air in to my "ram air" set-up but im open for suggestions and recommendations where would be the best place to "open up" for cool outside air in.

Thanks

How EXACTLY did you set up a ram-air system? I'm seriously not trying to flame, I'm curious because I have heard that a ram-air idea doesn't really work with our cars, because of the MAF. I'd love a description of what you've done, or pics if you've got some.

On the classic I plan on cutting away my bumper support, and adding a kenny bell ram air box (sourced from a Buick GN) into the bumper. I will be glassing the airbox in for a finished look, and have a 2.5" pipe running from nose to MAF then a shorter tube 2.5" to the TB.
Ram air works great on any car with a MAF sensor...look at GM F-body cars. The only thing is you need to be moving at a good speed to get a "Ram" effect.

I havent exactly set mine up. Im in the designing stages.

First im planning to move the battery to the back and create the box in the old battery ocation.

With a cai running into the box

either a NACA duct (aka WRC rally style) on the hood. to allow air in
check-out www.carbontrix.com for trick stuff.

OR open up a hole under the left headlight in that trim piece between the bumper and headlight.

these are my thoughts for a "ram air" system

one problem is off throttle issues at speed. if you are "ramming" air into the box or cai that is directly connected to the MAF as it is suspsoed to be, you will run HELLA rich and get all sorts of bucking and/or back fire. The MAF will go nuts as it is seeing air going into the maf but the engine not needing it. not only that but you will probaly induce lots of turbulance into the air stream which is very bad. as swirling across the maf's wire will make it go hay wire not knowing what is going on. I would HIGHLY sugguest mot to use any sort of "ram" effect as it will make your highway driving very very very interesting
