Well the swap was finished on Friday, made it to the dyno on saturday, and the track on sunday :D
The car started at 5am on friday for the first time, and I left town at 11 am to go to New Orleans to dyno and race.
There were some issues on the way there though. (I drove the car 500 miles for the race :D) The car had been running hot the whole trip from San Antonio. It did it in odd ways. It was loosing water, but not leaking it. The car would drive at about 180-190* for about 30-45 min and would then start to over heat. I never let it get over 235. One leg of the trip we drove about 40 min and stopped for lunch.. it was not hot when we stopped. Before we left we checked the water. It was over a gallon low. We did not know where the water went. There was no water under the car so it didnt leak out there. We thought it was just leaking under pressure. We didnt worry about the leak too much as we did not have time to deal with it right now.. Just kept an eye on temps.
I get to the dyno and strap the car down.. First pass at 9psi it made 230 with a a/f way below 10:1 (I did not mess with my settings. I was sill on a 1.8 map with 550 injectos, now I have a 2.0 with 720 injectors.)
But we started getting worried. I noticed on the runs that the overflow was spewing water during the pass. I thought the car was running hot since it was a hot day outside. At 15psi it spewed more than 9psi. I decieded to make one more pass to make sure. We turned the Profec B all the way up. I was hoping for about 22-24 psi but got just under 20psi. This time the water went everywhere. It was shooting out my 21psi radiator cap, and out of the catch can like a gyser. The car made 370hp with the blown headgasket. Not bad IMHO I think 400 would of been easy. I did a compression test cold about 3 hours later and it was 150 100 100 150 Yanked the head and the gasket was bown between he water jacket and #2 and #3 cylinders. It was one of those composite POS headgaskets... It looked like it went out from overheating (I think it was blown when I got the motor.)
Well I could not get a headgasket in time so I went the crazy way... JB WELD :D I used that to patch the blown parts, and copper coated it to hell. I only expected to get 1 maybe 2 passes on it if I was lucky, but it was worth a try. I take it to the track and it is no longer loosing water.. It is running great. I go for my first pass. I launch and this leaves like a rocket. Hit 2nd and it was scarey as hell. The absolute fastest I have ever felt the car. I hit (after 2 tries) 3rd gear and it doesnt feel as good, then 4th it feels like crap. The car was still moving good, but not as good as 2nd gear. I look behind me and nothing but smoke. Headgasket let go. It actually blew on #3 and #4. The JB welded spot held fine. The car still went 12.2@120mph with a double missshift to 3rd, and a blown headgasket. I was told that as soon as I got into boost it started smoking. So I started to blow in 1st gear and went from there. The car will start now but wont idle and if I hold the gas it has about 3-4" of vacuum....
I believe I will be hitting 10's by the end of next month :D.... We will see...
