I recently got a 91 nx2000, and someone hit it, It is getting repaired, but I am looking for some input on so mods-- what would be the best starting point? Also, no pwr opts, no c/c or ABS--is the wiring harness the same to allow options to be installed or did Nissan use a separate harness on these other cars?
I also have had a problem finding info via Nissan on this car--they lost the VIN records... the car came from Germany, any info on recalls? jn1gb36***005284

welcome aboard man and sorry to hear about the hit, it seems like they're tryin to exterminate the the already disappearing Nxen:mad:
Anyways, most people start their mods by getting an intake and exhaust and then going for headers and upgrading the ECU and suspensions
Hotshot makes cold air intake for us, as well as Place Racing, (or you can make your own intake like me with home depot stuff :D) and exhaust systems are pretty universal but it would be nice to increase the diameter of the whole cat-back and get a decent muffler to top it off.
Hotshot makes nice headers for our cars but there is also stillen, and pacesetter(which are crappy) and a few other companies that i cant think of, but hotshot seems to be the most popular one around here.
Then most people upgrade their ECUs with a JWT program which gives a nice 10+ horsepower (someone please correct me if Im wrong)
Then you can worry about the suspensions. AGX makes nice struts for us and Eibach springs or Ground Control coil overs are a way to go. (I myself have the AGX adjustables with Eibach springs and im very satisfied with them)
sorry I can't answer the rest of your questions,

the biggest bang for the buch on an SR20 is a headr, hands down. Hotshot just realeased a new header and it kicks ass apparently. Stay away from Stillen as far as headers. Get a cold air intake, well worth the extra $ over a bolt on filter and adaptor. The JWT computer is expensive and gives about 5 hp, not really worth it unless you are getting cams to go along wiht it IMO. You will find that performance parts for our car are more expensive than hondas, but who wants to drive a honda?

You don't even need an ECU to go with your cams. All I have on my NX right now is S4's and I can take a new VSpec on a roll. It idles a little rough, but drives just fine. Get a header, intake, cams. Screw getting an exhaust it's worth less power than a computer. If you want to spend your money on an exhaust get a custom crush bent one cheap from a muffler shop. Have fun and enjoy.

Yes the JWT (www.jimwolftechnology.com) does give a peak HP gain of 4-5HP, however you'll gain as much "under the curve".
In addition, the JWT ECU is upgradeable for Nitrous, Cams and Turbo applications.
Money well spent!

I gained 11HP over the Stillen header that I was using.:D

True. You can get by using cams with out the ECU upgrade. HOWEVER, you'll get more power from your cams with the ECU upgrade. Additionly, your car will idle better.
If you plan on going with either the JWT S3 or S4 cams, JWT has specific ECU programs available for either cam.

Not True!
Once you start adding mods, especially cams, you'll need the extra exhaust flow.
The OE exhaust will just choke off the motor!

Only partially true.
You can equal the performance of a cat back exhaust (which no one makes specificly for the NX), with a well made custom exhaust from any competent muffler shop.
HOWEVER! Do not use "crush bends" on your exhaust pipe!
The "crush bends" will induce turbulence in the exhaust stream, which will create excessive back pressure and kill your top end power.
Spend the extra money for Mandrel bends on your exhaust, you'll be happier in the long run.
Have any more questions, feel free to ask! :D
