Just my luck when I'm showing my car to people this weekend to sell it it stops starting. I've been having to push start the car to get it moving. It won't even turn over, all I get is a click whenever i turn the key. I'm guessing this is the starter but could I be wrong? Everything else seems fine it's just that. The car runs fine after I push start it. Any ideas anyone?

On a side note: When I push start the car should my foot be on the gas also or do I not need to do that?

1. Check grounds, esp. whether there's crud between the neg post of the battery and the cable clamp. 2. the connection (including ck for rust) between the ground strap and the fender where it attaches. 3. Cable itself may be corroded. 4. starter connections loose. 5. Battery itself, may have bad cell, low charge. How long since you've driven it much? FINALLY, may be starter.

As long as there's actually a bit of power to the ecu, it should start with no throttle, just like normal. If it's doornail dead, it won't go anyway as you need fire to the ecu.
