The stock lsd requires a certian amount of slip before it begins to lock up. Even then it doesn't lock up 100%. The quaife is a torque sensing diff. When one wheel begins to turn faster then the other it sends the power to the other wheel. In contrast, the stock diff always allows a certian amount of slip. Plus it wears out fast due to the heat this produces.

The stock diff uses a fluid to somehow force the wheel that is not spinning to have more power. The quaiffe uses gears to do it. The Quaiffe is much more effective. I am embarrassed to admit I don't really know how a Quaiffe works, I just know it's effective as hell.

If you are serious about motorsports (auto-X, track schools, IT racing) and the rules allow, you need a Quaiffe.

I agree the Quaife is the best. But, I don't think you can get it anymore without Quaife getting an order for 25 units There are a couple other options. Cheapest is a new mechanical diff from NISMO. Cost is only $750 or so. I is designed for a FWD car and will fit in both the LSD and Non-LSD transmission. It is much better then the vsld. It does make a little noise on thight turns and when changing directions. Another option is the KAZZ. It isn't available yet but will be in about 3 months or so. It is set up for 100% lockup which is to much on a FWD car. It is adjustable by the user. A 80-90% lockup would be better for a FWD car from what I have heard/read. If anyone know where I can get a Quaife let me know.

I don't think the quaife replaces the stock VLSD, it is added to it. You'll have both in your car, but the quaife will be doing the work
