: How to install a clutch on the SE-R
shumax 05-29-2002, 08:16 PM Can someone give me some input on how to specifically install a clutch on the Classic? Don't point me to the link on se-r.net as it's dead. However, if someone else has a good writeup I would love to read it----pics would even be better.
Thanks!

MauiBlueGride 05-29-2002, 08:54 PM I can give you what I recall from doing my NX's....
1. Get beer
2. Get FSM
3. Goto Ben's or call a friend over
4. Watch them do work, offer lots of beer
5. Take over when beer is gone and friend is passed out
6. Hope you gave friend a creeper so you can wheel instead of drag him out from under the car.....
hehe
ok really....
What part are you looking for detailed info on? Torque specs, tips/tricks or just a detail step by step process on it?
Chris
NissanTuner 05-29-2002, 09:19 PM i did a tranny swap, which included a new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, in my buddies celica, only took 15 hours. that includes time for drinking, driving to parts store, eating, remembering were bolts go, etc.
Seriously, considering coming to my place in Indiana for an evening. My wife and I can do a whole clutch job in two hours. I've done over ten of them now and can do them in my sleep. You can even stay overnight at my place for free. I have had 3 geekouts at my place so far this year with as many as 17 SR20 folks over at my place. I'd love to help you out. I'm in Kokomo, IN.
sleeping 91ser 05-30-2002, 12:45 AM wait wait, didnt you just replace the axles on your car  you should have just done both at the same time.

shumax 05-30-2002, 05:14 AM I like the offer to come to Indiana. How far are you from Indy? If you are serious about that, I might take you up on it later in the summer. The clutch is "ok" right now. However, if I can get it replaed for parts cost only, I would have it done sooner. It's the labor costs that have been scaring me.
I didn't do the clutch at the time of the axles because of $$$. You are right though---I should have:)
Let me know!
Thanks!

I am looking for a detailed step-by-step approach to it. I know it's a lot to ask, but I have to think that SOMEONE has put it together already.
PSSSHHHGOESMYSR20 05-30-2002, 10:54 AM Buy an FSM it explains it in there.
I can guarantee that Ben is not kiddding. :) Ben is the Man.
NismoPC 05-30-2002, 11:13 AM If I get the chance, (not tonight, maybe tomorrow) I'll scan the pages in OCR text and post them on my site. This will be the Ronald Chong instructions, NOT the FSM. I don't have one.
I highly suggest you pick up an FSM, or atleast a Haynes/Chilton's for proper torque spec's and those little things that are not listed in Ronald's instructions.
Luckily, I had Jason's (jacen99se) assistance and we were at his place, so I used his FSM for his Sentra SE to get proper torque specs and diagrahms, etc. Worked out perfectly!

Cool---wanna float me the $80 for one? Not to be a prick, but that's part of the reason I like this site. I can obtain information from other member who have already gone through what I have to go through. Heck, some will even share their FSM manual pages with me. So I ask---why pay $80 for one? I already have the Haynes and I don't like it for anything more than torque specs. That stupid thing doesn't even have the firing order right on the SR20DE!!!
Plain and simple, I am looking for someone to go into detail about the experience. This guy in Columbus that said he would copy the pages he used sounds perfect!
I am still taking Ben up on this. I am wondering if he would be up for another 'geekout' the weekend I would come out?
Thanks,

Didn't get time to do it yet. I am heading over to jacen99se's today to help him work on his '91 SE-R and possibly his '99 SE.
Coincidentally, we are installing a clutch in his '91.
NismoPC 06-02-2002, 01:20 PM Here you go! Finally scanned in the document that was originally created by Ronald S. Chong. This was available as a link on the www.SE-R.net for many years, but the link/website is no longer valid.
NOTE: Please read the portion at the top of the page in it's entirety. Thanks!
