I bought a wix Part # 51394 to put on my bb det. Its the first time I have changed the oil and this filter is shorter than my old one. Is this a problem?

I know for fact that for avenir motors (not sure if its the case for bluebird motors) that when you go to screw the oil filter on, it seems like its threading but its actually not and then later pops off.

I would search around a bit and use a OEM filter anyway. Its not like thye are expensive.

I just felt it and I know for sure that it is screwed on tight. I'm more concerned about the hight of the thing. Maybe if it is to short the pressure blows them off.

IMO, Nissan is a better factory filter, yes. But Wix is not crap. I sell the shit out of them at my work, and try to get people to buy them when they ask for an aftermarket filter.

(I work at O'Reilly's).

If you look down at your oil filter screw....If you see the threads only, use a highport (smaller) filter. If there is a pipe protruding out before the threads, use a lowport (longer) filter.

AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE BECAUSE DAVERACER SAID SO!

if i was you id just run the k&n filter best one out there. its a little bit more money but if you have a blue bird why not spend the few extra bucks. just my $.02

Actually... the k&n ONLY filters 90%.... and should only be used in racing applications. The best aftermark filter is the mobil 1, 99.1%. Even the purolater/fram filters 96%
