got a POP charger for my 91 SER and went to install it but noticed that there is a large hose going from the egr valve to the stock airbox. what do i do with this hose? seems like it dumps exhaust gases back into the intake upstream of the MAF. the POP charger just has the metal bracket and cone filter, no place to attach the hose. can a retrofit it or do i have to get a different POP charger?

When I had my NX2000, I bought a Bosch breather. It is black, has a mesh grill inside with a foam filter. Need to put about a 2 inch piece of hose between the black box and the filter.

Worked pretty good.

Just make sure you don't leave the hole open to the elements. Don't want anything to get sucked up in there. But you can't plug it off. It has to be open.

do a search either in the classic forum or the se-r list archives for baby K&N filter. I put the number in there for it. Easy to find with a little work. And that is to the AIV not the EGR :)

Just go to advanced auto parts or pep boys and get one. You can get them in different colors too. Enjoy.

its the A.I.V valve, or something like that. go to www.courtesyparts.com and look for the pop chargers. click on the ser ones and it will have the aiv option for you to click on. yeah you do need it. lol. later. good luck!

The filter you are missing was included when I purchased my POP charger. This is what it is for:

PAIR system: "The PAIR valve sends secondary air to the exhaust manifold, using a vacuum created by exhaust pulsation in the exhaust manifold. When the exhaust pressure is below atmospheric pressure (negative pressure), secondary air is sent to the exhaust manifold. When the exhaust pressure is above atmospheric pressure, the reed valve prevents secondary air from being sent back to the air cleaner."

So my experience with it is that when my little filter fell off on the road, the only thing I was thinking about was the build up of dirt in the reed valve. I ditched my PAIR system as most of these systems are used to bring more air into the exhaust thus lighting off the cat sooner and or to control pulse resonance. If the reed valve gets stuck open (do to particle buildup from dirt or exhaust gasses) then more exhaust gas is allowed to enter the intake with the stock filter housing. It's good to note that the low port engines do not need this system due to OBD2 even though OBD2 is evil. Get the filter. ;)

thanks for the good info. so the airflow is from the intake to the AIV not vice versa. and so my engine is a high port? is that in reference to the fuel injectors?
