Well, The Classic had an exhaust leak when I bought it. I was pretty sure that it was coming form the exhaust manifold. I thought it was a blown gasket. So I had the copper Mr gasket ready and removed the manifold tonight. It turns out that one of the studs is broken on exhaust port #4 and part of it is stuck flush in the engine block. F*()(&*^&%^$#$#.

Any of you had this happen before? How did you remove the broken stud? All ideas are welcome.

You can try to use an extractor to get the rest of the stud out.

If that doesn't work then get a Heli-Coil kit. (http://www.emhart.com/products/helicoil/Default.htm)

I didnt remove it. I just put some Ultra Copper gasket maker on it.
It worked and has worked for a few other members here.

But , of course, its best to remove it.

Good luck!!!

Word! i could not say it enough!

Ultra Copper is the bomb..

I just snapped not one, but two VC Bolts... used the Ultra Copper for a week. The leakage was small to none. I went down to Home Depote Last Weekend. Bought a small Bolt Extracting Kit for like 8 Bucks..

10 mins later I extracted all the broken bolts and replaced them with new ones from the dealer. So try them too man.. it was really easy to get em out!

Good Luck man,

I am going to give RTV a try unless Ultra Copper is better.

I would permenantly fix mine but a JDM swap is sitting in my garage.

Ultra copper is RTV.

There was a broken stud on the old (original) engine in my raSEcar, which was causing an exhaust leak. I just used a bunch of hi-temp liquid gasket stuff in that area, and it didn't leak anymore. It's good for a quick fix, but ideally you should try and remove the rest of the stud.
