I split the tranny, but was half awake when I wrote the topic. What kind of gasket goop should I use when putting the tranny back together?

You "split" the tranny? Do you mean you separated the gear box from the bell housing? If so, I think either Permatex Ultra Gray or Ultra Black should work fine.
