Was having the "famous" Sr20 Timing Chain Tensioner startup clatter problem

Anyways...... went to dealer to find the new updated tensioner and gasket.
Was quoted 79$ from 2 dealerships for tensioner (the dealerships even get it for 39$ supposedly...), and 7$ for gasket!>......... Gasket was right, tensioner was wrong.....!
Anyone know where i can find the tensioner for 32$??

try courtesy also there is a place in cali that i got mine from tustin nissan i think i got it for 55 or something like that dont really remember though.

Also, from my experience, there are at least two revisions of the tensioner. I've seen three different ones so far.

Call Courtesy Nissan at 1-800-527-1909. Tell them you are a member of the SE-R list and you'll get a discount. If you search the SE-R archives, you should be able to find the part number for the updated tensioner along with pictures. I believe the install procedure with pictures is on se-r.net.

The original one lasted around 110,000 miles, then I went through two within about 15,000 miles, and I've had the fourth around 50,000 miles now. I'm not sure why the two didn't last, but I was having startup clatter pretty badly with them. Haven't had it since the fourth one was installed- coincidence? Not sure. I was getting pretty good at replacing them, though.
