What would be a better choice, both for saving money, and getting a normal running motor back. Rebuilding the current motor, and if so, what would be considered a rebuild? I mean, what kinds of things should be done? Or, would buying a JDM motor be better off?

your honestly better off just getting a jdm motor, than can be had for real cheap now and are a little extra bang, plus rebuilding is more expensive but when your done you basically have a "new" motor.

It all depends on what your intentions are. If you want to fix your engine because it is getting tired then I would reccomend just doing a JDM swap. If you are doing it to build your engine for peformance reasons then its up to you if you want to invest the money. I personally think just doing a JDM swap is the best way to go( they are cheap to :) ). Most imported JDM engines have very low milage. I have had mine for about a year now and it runs very well and it also reacted awesome to bolt-on mods!! Just my .02 hope this helps! :)

Does the JDM require you get the ECU and other parts or just the motor for the swap. There is a guy on Ebay who always has them on ther for $750. Like you said, I am just feeling lik e my engine is losing some pep.:(

no ecu needed, most of them seem to be automatics so you just need to take the drive plate off and use your flywheel and swap a few things over depending upon how concerned you are with emmisions.

if you cant be finding a jdm engine, head over to se-r.net and check out the classfieds. they've always got a bunch in there. id definitely say swap it out, and if you've gotta be swapping anyway, just go ahead and get a det or ve.

See, money is the concern here, and the motor probably wont last another 2 months. While a det sounds tempting, I would rather keep a roof over my head than go fast. Besides, I just got a new set of headers, so they need to be used. :D If Jason Young ever emails me back, I think I will just get the jdm from him.
