Just out of curiousity, how hot does the exhaust manifold or header get while driving?

I would say over 500 degrees.

well, considering a turbo motor's exhaust can reach 1600 F, I'd say pretty hot

Just checking to see if the JB Weld's recommended 600 degrees or less would hold. Guess not.

I touched my friend's headers right after a 2 hour drive from Orlando, and I burned the back of my fingers. Probably the worst burn ever I've gotten!!!

I only moved my car into my driveway last night and put the front wheels up on ramps so i could check underneath it. When I was under the car I was checking the bolts that attach the downpipe to the exhaust manifold, because I wanted to see if any were loose. Well, I ended up burning one of my fingers pretty good. Lesson learned...header and downpipe get very hot, very fast.
