: nismo fpr placement?

I am sure you guys are aware the Ve has 2 fpr units. I am pretty sure the nismo fpr replaces the driver's side fpr, but not sure. Also, what do you do with the other one when you put the nismo on?

i was wondering this myself. i just put the nismo unit on the drivers side(left). i havent got my fuel pump working yet to see if it does anthing weird though.

one's an fpr(drivers side) the other is a fpd (fuel pressure dampener)

the one nearest to the distributor is the fpr...the other one is a dampener.

oh ok. Well Then I guess I guessed correctly then.

I've got a question concerning this. My fuel-line comes from the filter, and goes into a pipe which is a part of the fuel rail assembly. This then goes into what I've understood is the fuel pressure dampener, on the passenger side, which then feeds into the rail. The fuel then exits the rail trough the fpr on the drivers side? Is this assumption correct?
Also, where would be a good place to place and FP-gauge? On the return line?

As the FPR sits on the return line your guage will sit there as well

what does this fuel dampner do exactly, and what would happen if you didn't use it?

Kiwi-japie: Yes, but it'll sit after the fpr, right? As the inlet for the fpr is the rail iself, and getting it into the rail itself aint an easy job ;)
Dead SE-Rious: TEH FUEL PULSES WOUL KILL U!!!! BEWARE! No seriously, I have no idea. Maybe there would be more of a logical reason on the N1, with it's two rails..you know..when the injectors in the second rail fire, I guess there can be some differences in pressure. Or..well..I have no idea, just thinking out loud :)

The FPD is there to even out fuel pressure when the solenoids switch, as the manifold vacuum changes as fully kectik VVL kicks in yo. Obviously, as the FPR uses manifold vacuum as its refernce, that could cause problems.

To fit an aftermaket FPR, you can look at tapping a fitting into factory FPR went into the rail.

So you are using the stock FPR and want to install a guage? I am using a Sard FPR and bought a liquid filled guage that mounts onto the FPR. If you are using a AFPR with no place to mount the guage, yes you will place the guage on the return line.

Here you go Dudes - Nismo FPR is on the right, you have to cut a section out of the support for the adjustment screw.

The gauge needs to be before the regulator, it cannot be placed on the return line as this is after the regulator.

^^ Unless the gauge is part of the FPR(not the Nismo one obviously)

ARRRG. WHy does everything I do turn into a nightmare?
I just stripped both the screws on the stock fpr down to the point that all thats left in the screw is a cone-shaped hole. Crap.
Also, can someone tell me why Nissan uses these small, stupid, incredibly annoying clip-clamps for..well..EVERYTHING! Yes, they do stay on when put on, but when you want them off..MAN, that's a world of trouble. I hate it. I have made it my personal mission in life to eliminate all such clamps from the engine bay.

the screws on the fuel pressure reg i've been told are posidrive, not normal phillips head which is why people often strip them, i haven't replaced my reg yet so i can't say if this is correct or not, but that could be a definite reason.

To fix the situation, i recommend using a small hacksaw or rotary tool, CAREFULLY carve a SLOT into the head of the screws and use a flat blade screw driver to get them off.

The issue with the pipes being very hard to get off the lines is very common with the fuel rail hoses, so you're not alone, unless you use AN fittings with threads for connections, they'll always be a bugger to get off.

I found the perfect solution to all my problems. Just take a big knife, cut those biches open, so you dont have to work them off. Then go to a local shop that sells hoses, and buy 5 meters of fuel hose for el cheapo. Then put that on. Works brilliant :D
As for the FPR, that's what I actually considered doing CoZZm0, but as of right now, I spilled so much fuel down around the engine bay (changed the filter while I was at it) that I dont want to do anything that can cause sparks there for a while ;)

EDIT: Posidrive? I've never even heard of that. They are going out, in both the fpr and the pulse dampener, as soon as I can gather the motivation, and flatheads or phillips are going in. Good info though :)
