I went to have my car aligned after doing the axles and the shop called and told me this: When we put the car on the rack the right front tire dropped down 3" further than the left. They went on to say they felt that the shock/strut was damaged on the right side and wouldn't perform the alignment until it was fixed as it would be a waste. They said that it would be next to impossible to get it right unless everything in the suspension was "true."
I went ahead and removed the strut and the thing is not leaking and takes about 4 sec. to rebound, but it never fully rebounds which seems odd to me. There is also some squirting/popping sound when I compress the shaft fully into the strut housing.
My question is simple? Does this shop have a point when they say that they shouldn't align it like it is? If so, where can I get a KYB GR2 for next to nothing? Tirerack has them for $44 which I think is a SCREAMING deal, but want to make sure. They also have alignment bolts on their site. I have KYB GR2's and the Suspension Techniques springs---should I pick a set of these bolts up?
Thanks and sorry for being so darn wordy!
