i have a 96 b14 se-r and i been having some rear end issues. when im driving i sometimes feel the rear end move left to right or vice versa. my shocks recently went bad, but even before they went bad it would do that. it was on the gc coilovers with the kyb agx setup. i am putting it to stock suspension back on, cause the setup was too bouncy for me.

anyone know or can tell me why my car was moving like that? i did do an alignment when i did the drop setup. is there anything else i should change or do besides what i plan to do? i was thinking of adding a rear swaybar and strut bar to see if maybe that would eliminate the problem.

any tips or advice would be greatly appreciate it.

Your ride was probably bouncy because you had the GCs set too low. An inch drop is pushing it, even on 300/200 spring rates.

Try raising it up a few turns before you take everything off. Set the rear shocks to 4, the fronts to 2. Drive it again, see if there are still issues.

Also, try jacking the car up, and see if you can move the beam from side to side. You should not be able to at all.

A swaybar and RSTB will not change anything, perhaps something is broken or wrong.

thanks for the tips. i will do that. i am going to have to change the suspension cause it went bad already in the rear. i will double check though the beam as you said and see if anything moves or is wrong. am i really screwed if the beam does move or would it be something easy to fix?

There is a link crossways that holds the axle in place side-to-side. It is like a modified panhard rod. There are bushings in it that could be worn. If you crawl under the car (on stands, of course) you wil see it.
There are also bushings at the front of the rear axle assembly that the axle pivots on for its up and down motion. Check them as well. Struts do nothing for side-to-side alignment.
Either way, you are not screwed. Just need to replace worn parts.
Pick up a Haynes manual from Autozone or Advance. Well worth the money if you are not familiar with the b14.
