Uhoh, somebody needs to do some more research. :) For starters, Mobil1 recently changed their formula; who knows what that's going to do for performance or protection. Redline MT-90 is a very very good transmission product, though there may be better products depending on your application.

for turbo get redline's heavy duty shockproof.

always run Mobil 1 10w-30 or 15w-30. also, change very 3000 miles. thats what i do.

Allmotorsentra's comments don't apply to TURBO motors.

ATF in the tranny? are you sure? Why the fuck would you wish that on your tranny?

I wasnt saying use this in your turbo car i have no idea what kind of fluids to use in a car with fake horsepower however a n/a car is my deal and when your trying to get the most out of a stock engine (1/4 mile times) there is alot of power to be gained by freeing up the power train against restricting fluids. I had a 99 sel and it had atf in the gearbox from the dealer (i work there) i drove it 25k and no problems then i sold it wife, kid, house.I dont baby the power train, i just replaced the tranny i had some nasty wheel hop and cracked the case. Now dont get all pissed of at the fake horsepower comment im just giving the guys with real power props. I like turbos there fast and sound cool but its easy power . It also gives you more problems i just rebuild a twin turbo 300zx motor the friggen l/s turbo let go and puked all its guts into the engine yeah cleaning the intercooler was fun no wait getting it out of the car was even better no no no wait i got an even better one how bout when majestic turbo sends you a turbo(rebuilt)and you put it on then reistall the engine and its no good now you have to pull the motor and turbos again yeah can you see my frustration anyways i like all cars i just prefer n/a

Well, since the question was what oil to use in a det, people somehow assumed you were talking about a turbo car. Also, this happens to be the turbo section. If you were not talking about a turbo car, why did you post your answer here? It is misleading.

By the way, I am a big fan of fake horsepower. It is really good stuff. :)

Uhhh, this is the turbo forum, and he did ask about what weight oil in a DET. An NA motor will use a different weight oil than a FI motor. Why even answer this question if your car doesn't apply??

hey, maybe i can help a little bit with the answer, i have a nx2000 that i turboed. i have the regular setup, 370cc injectors, jwt ecu,,,,etc. i was using mobile1, syntec oil, but, when i got my clucth redone at SR20Development, Chris told me not to use mobile 1, because it may cause detination, mobile 1 oil, is so thin. He recommended me in using Castrol syntec, and that is what i'm running now. If you have any questions just give them a call @(619)69t-urbo. They were the guys that built that black 200sx on sportcompact car magzine, that was producing 480hp.

well, i run on a full interior, full accessories, and a system. i ran 10 mph faster and over a second faster. i would consider having no interior more "fake" than turbo.

and yes, it is easier, so what? is it faster? yes.

sorry if i offended you, but i wanted to make sure that putting ATF in a TURBO car would be murder on your tranny. your tranny would cry uncle and break the first time you hit full boost. i just hope that nobody ran off and bought ATF for their turbo car and threw it in because you said so. if nobody disputed your statement, it would be taken as fact. people here who come for questions answered would follow your advice, and quite possibly blow up their trannies. that costs money, and it would be your nonsense statement that would have started it.

don't get offended and start trying to make cheap shots at turbo guys just becuase you think it is cheater HP. i say HP is HP, and however you arrive at it is your perogative. NA power is nice, but it is, admittedly, slow and expensive. sorry if i dont want to put $10K in my motor just to get it into the 12s with a full interior. or spend $5k and not be able to drive it on the street for fear of going deaf.
