okay.....my wheels are getting on my nerves more and more every time i notice them.

i'm the only one that seems to notice the crud and brake dust build-up on the inside of my stock wheels. the previous owner obviously didn't care about keeping them clean. i took one wheel off about a week ago to see if serious scrubbing could affect the vile crap in there, but couldn't get it like i want.

i want them looking clean and as new as possible. but i was wondering if i could use one of those hand held steam gun things to clean the inside of my wheels. and i'd take the wheel off the car to do so of course.
i'm just wondering if anyone else has tried this, the results, or if anyone would advise against it.

TIA

ive found that a good wheel cleaner and a pressure washer with a good plastic brush will work well(it took the crap off my 12 year old wheels)

As long as you are doing the inside of the wheel where there is no finsh, some simple green and steel wool worked great for me. Don't get the steel wool too coarse though.

Have you used brake cleaner? I don't think that would hurt anything and it will definately get the shit off. Simple Green on the other hand you have to watchout for if your rims have any protective coating or paint, we had a bottle spill at a store I used to work at and it took the concrete sealer off of the floor. Although that was concentrated.
