my cars idle is absolutly horrible, goes from 4-600 rpms at a stop, then when im getting on it it kinda hesistates from about 4500 to 6000 rpms at WOT. if i dont hit the pedal all the way it doesnt really do it. after 6,000 rpms at WOT the car just puts you in the seat, really pulling hard. city driving and highway driving is fine but when i wanna race someone or just hit it by myself it fucks up.
i have a intake, exhaust, thats it. i put in plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, i havent checked my timing for put in a new o2 sensor.
anyone else going thru this and found out what it was?
also when its hesitating, the tach and speedo needles jump around.

I had the same thing happen when I replaced my wires and cap. I also cleaned the throttle body.
I broke the ground to the MAF moving stuff around. I had the same symptoms give a check to your ground.

Your egr system might be clogged as well, unplug the hose going from the bpt valve (left most disc shaped thingy) to the egr valve (right most disc shaped thingy) and cap both ends, this helped me out, and i had a similar problems as you. Hope this helps. John.

i have looked and tried to block off the emissions stuff, doesnt do a thing.
but i am gonna try to see if the ground is not good. that bolts up right underneath the hose coming from the radiator, right?
thanks

I'd check your timing first, my car did that when I first bought it. I reaplced my rotor, dist. plugs, wires and fuel filter and was checking the TPS, AAC valve and other stuff before I checked the timing and that's what it was. Still needed that other stuff done though.

I think I did the fuel filter first, then I did plugs, wires, rotor and cap all at once. Then I was checking the TPS, and AAC valve, and then I was thinknig of replacing the fuel pressure regulator and checking out the fuel pump. I ended up checking the timing since the pressure regulator wasn't cheap if I recall correctly, and neither was a new fuel pump. I think all the stuff I did cost me around $60 and had never been done as far as I know, so I didn't feel like I wasted my time or money. I was using a Haynes manual's troubleshooting section to inform me as to what things to check considering my given "symptoms". BTW Haynes manuals suck. :)
