In Australia our sr20de powered cars do not have LSD, doh!
What are some options available to us? We've looked into the 1.8ltr Gti Pulsar LSD boxes, which work, however there are issues with larger than normal amounts of camber, etc.
I've found "phantom grip" has anyone tried one of these, do they work, etc?
Thanks, James

I can see by your post count that you are new to the forum. If you did a search and typed in LSD you would get plenty on this subject.

These are just the threads I particapated in. I didn't do one for the phantom grip. I can tell you from just reading the forum that I cant remember anyone who has one. Also, for the price difference if the Nismo one is a option that is what I would do, Or wait for the KAAZ. Good luck, Nice to have you around.

"pulsssar", do your research (try www.dogpile.com good search engine). You may find that Quaife is your best bet. I have heard so many opinions about it and almost all of them are top praise. A small auto manufacture uses them in their cars because they work so damn well and last longer then the car. That would be BMW of course. In my younger days working with Bimmers, we never had to think about playing with the limited diff as it was so bleedin good. KAAZ is adjustable yes, but if you get the wrong number of discs stacked you could be quite unhappy and the discs do wear. Seating the discs can be a lot of fun as you drive in a figure eight for about 20 minutes. Hmmmmm the LSD in the, dare I speak of this car here, Intergra type-R is a geared LSD like the Quaife, so I think the manufactures are onto something. You can get a Nissan trany with the factory viscous LSD and buy new bearings. Press them on and drop in the Quaife. Good hunting bloke.

LSDs for SR20DE are beaten to death in this and similar forums.
Results:
1. QUAIFE (the manufacturer) is OUT of SR20DE units. The UK and US distributors are also out. The factory will not manufacture any more on their own unless they get an order of close to 25 units (all but impossible). Only chance is some reseller that may have some in stock.
2. NISMO has a mechanical LSD that fits either VLSD-equipped trannies or open trannies (two different products, different part numbers) at ~USD750.
3. KKAZ does not make anything for FWD SR20s.
4. CUSCO has two different sets (both 1-way) for SR10-SR20DE.
5. PhantomGRIP is a compromise but (according to comments and hearsay) is WELL worth the price they ask. Something like costing 40% of other units and provides 80% of the functionality.

KAAZ will have one for our cars in the fall. That is what KAAZ told me about a month ago. It is already designed and just needs to get it's turn in the production scedule.

Damn that Quaife. I'm getting close to buying one and your (hpro123) saying they are out of the units? This is getting old. Finding stuff for this stupid NX of mine is hitting the boiling point. Looks like i'm going to be in the market for a 91 BMW M3. I know I can get any part for that car and I can get them pretty cheap. It's what I use to work with and I have the connections.

Sorry Cossie! :(
However, if you do a search in the se-r.net archives (this year) you will find several messages relevant to this. I think that John Malapetsa had one or two remaining that was to be sold at $895 I think.
If you are dedicated you may have luck! Still the info regarding the un-availability by QUAIFE-UK and QUAIFE-USA is accurate and I do not think that an Aussie would actually try to find out John.

Thanks for the info guys, keep in mind that my car has no LSD at all in it, not even factory VLSD, so quaife is not an option at all, even with the availability problems.
So... this Nissan model that I'm hearing about sounds like the go. I'm going to try get my local nissan boys to do the running around and suss it out for me.
