just wondering....

i've been doing me research on cams, dyno charts and stuff.

but i was wondering, how much would cams like s3's s4's take off you're 1/4 mile time? i've been searching and can't find any info.

i'm asking because, i'm about to spend 500 bucks on either s4's or a hotshot gen 5 header so i can trash my stillen 4-1 header.

I heard it's better to get all the breather mods first...ie- intake, header, and exhaust. Of course, you do have the headers already. Just out of curiousity, why are you getting rid of the Stillen 4-1's? I think the s4's took off .2 at the dragstrip for someone around here...can't remember who.

Not sure how much they will take off your 1/4 mile time, you have to be a good driver too, but on the dyno, SE-Rican gained 11hp with the S4 cams.

IMO, don't get the cams until you can get an ECU (G20 or JWT). S3 and S4 cams with a 7100 redline isn't that helpful.

so much for jwt for making an ecu for us 98-99 guys.

as far as the g20 ecu, i still don't know how i would make it work without a check engine light. i've heard of some vacum lines to be changed, but which ones?!?!?!?!

I disagree on the ECU vs. cams. I got the cams before the ecu and loved them. You'll make a lot more power with the cams vs. the ecu. Plus, you can feel the cams come on around 4k and they really start pulling like mad after 5k. This was with the S3's. What would you rather have, a lot more power from ~3.5k on up to 7k+ or a few more HP and another 600rpm up top? If you can only do one at a time, I'd go cams first (which I did and haven't regretted).

Buy the header first, you will choke off the cams. I dynoed my car with s4's and no header, we will just say i was embarresed. Buy the header first.

Well I agree with Jackson Diamond. You should get the headers first. I reccomend getting all bolt -ons first then getting the cams of your choice. That is the route that I took. Don't get me wrong I love my cams and I honestly feel they are my favorite mod so far. I hope this helps you out. :)

i have a stillen 4-1 but, people say that the primaries are too small on the stillen for cams.

i was told 6-10+ peak hp over 91-93 cams on a low-port.
