Hey everyone. I'm glad I found a forum about sr20... they seem a little more complex than the 4ag's that I'm used to working on. I recently acquired a '91 NX2000 that I started prepping for the western Canadian rally series (and hopefully some roadracing if it's in the budget). I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer...
1) Can the entire EGR system be removed without messing anything else up? I don't mean just disconnecting and plugging a little tube... I want to remove everything and put a plug in the exhaust manifold.

2) Can someone help me identify what these are?

1. Part of the AIV system, it allows clean air to be pulled into the exhaust at idle to keep the convertor lit, on a race only engine, get rid of it

2. That is part of the PCV system. leave it there. It alloews oil vapor to condense and fall back to the pan,

3.Vacuuum control for the AIV system get rid of it and plug the pipe that goes into the manifold

4. that is the actual EGR valve. the pipe will come from the manifold , go over the top of the tranny and screw onto the egr valve. the part on the right is the BPT (backpressure transducer) it controls the egr. get rid of it all. plug the hole in the manifold (so following this train of thought there will be two ports on the exh. manifold to plug.) reomove the egr valve and bpt valve. you will then have to machine a plate to cover the hole left by the egr valve(with a gasket of course.

I used to post on www.club4ag.com during my ae82 days.. Ever venture over to that site? What do/did you have?

thanks guys.

WhiteSER, I used to post on club4ag too (as rallyracer88). I just sold my ae86 a few days ago... one of the best cars I've owned. I needed a front wheel drive for rallying so I found this NX.

Just checking to make sure you know about www.SE-R.net

It explains a lot of stuff for our engines and our cars.

Need to hit that engine bay with some degreaser buddy :)
