Hey guys, what the difference between a anti-sway bar and the Stillen G-load brace? Do they serve the same purpose? I know they're different components, but don't know what the different effects of the two are. Thanks

Martin

The anti-sway bar helps reduce body roll.
The G-Load brace, which is now available from NISSAN MOTORSPORTS, braces the lower control arms to maintain the alignment settings during hard cornering.

I wonder how effective the G-load brace is? Would it be a worthwhle investment for autocrossing, or just something you would want for road racing?

It's good for both.

How much is it from Nissan Motorsports? I couln't find it on the Stillen Website or in the NM cat. My catalog is an '01, so it must just be in the '02.

It's in the 2002 catalog. I don't know the price but here's the P/N:
54110-RN140 NISMO Strut Bar/F.

It looks like Stolen copied the Nismo brace, the Nismo brace has been around for a while now (although not here). The N-Tech and SHigspeed bars are much better in that the mount to the crossmember, this deverts any flex/energy to the crossmember rather than to the other control arm. The n-tech bar made a HUGE difference in my car, although it will put you out of STS IIRC if you are a serious autocrosser, that may be a negative.

Actually, it looks like the Cusco brace that $tillen sells.

The N-Tech bars are only available from The Progress Group. I hear those are a bit pricey now.
I was lucky in that I was able to buy the last N-Tech bar from Ken Nord.
From what I hear the SHigspeed bars have better ground clearance than the N-Tech/Progress Group bars, but Scott Higashi hasn't made one for the B14 chassis yet.

Yup... The ShigSpeed bars do have better ground clearance. The latest revision takes away hardly any ground clearance (I have one of the originals which didn't take away much ground clearance to begin with). He should be making the bars for the B14 soon, as he took measurements and welded up a prototype on my B14.

hey guys...i just installed a stillen g load brace on my 95 200sx se-r tonight! though i only took it for a quick spin around the block (too late to beat on it..neighbors get upset); i will say it made a really noticable difference. stillen has these on blowout..mine was like $90 shipped, so even though it isnt the best the bang for the buck is there AND ITS FROM STILLEN!!! just thought i'ld give my two cents worth. my "handling" mods are listed below for reference...

BTW- my car is set so the front shocks are cranked all the way down and the rears almost all the way down (I ***....but looks are important in college) and the bar sits about 1-2 inches from the ground!!

kyb AGX, GC coilover/camber plates, ME rear shock mounts, koni bumpstops, yokohama parada spec IIs

I got one from Stillen and couldnt ever get it to fit my car..4 attempts, and even slotting the end holes and still wouldnt fit on my car. Ill let it go for $40.00 + shipping if anyone wants to try it...I know about 4 others that have them and they fit their cars ok...

black200sxser.....my stillen brace did not fit well either. i ended up bending a couple threads over on the control arm bolts on friday night when i tried ot get it to fit! in the end i used a dremel to elongate the holes, and "lengthened" the brace with a sledghammer. the hammer had little visual effect, but it provided the final amount of clearance, so that i could fit a socket around the bolt head, in the end caps. just thought you might wanna know my methods before you give your brace away. BTW the brace did make a noticeable difference despite beating it with a sledge.

I also elongated the holse with the dremel, and it still didnt fit.so after the 4th try.and several different ways.I put it under my altima, and lowered it down on it full weight of the car..and it still didnt budge! LOL! I attemted 4 times, and just resolved to getting it aligned adn being done with it.:) but thanks for the input...:D :D

well i took the car for a good drive this afternoon and it bottomed the brace out..a lot on rough/paved roads. i had to crank my GCs up, so now theres space bwt the fender and tires.... OH NO ; ) anyways i cant believe how much of a drama this has turned into..i will probably look into getting a flat peice of steel welded onto the endcaps to replace round tube. Anyone have any better ideas?

I was actually thinking of going to a frame collision center to see if they could bend it a lil flatter and then it would be a little longer...

my sledghammer worked great for that...but i definately think that would be much smarter...plus itll give you some extra ground clearance. I want to get the center bar replaced with a flat 3/8" bar so i can drop my car back down

This thing is great, install was a pain, because its not made at the correct angle, WTF is that about?

But I can say the end results are great =) No wheel hop, the turn in rate going around corners is incredible. No regrets at all.
