Hi everybody.

I am having some problems with my car and I was hoping to get some good leads here. My car runs rich and my idle is a bit erratic. My gas mileage (despite a new O2 sensor, TPS, and regrounded MAF) is not as great as it could be either. It isn't horrible, but I usually avg about 25 mpg even though most of my driving is highway.

I have S3 cams, JWT comp, stillen MAF and TB, stillen intake, greddy exhaust (although I can't imagine the last 2 would have much affect on my fuel mixture)

Every so often the car runs and idles normal. Then, all of a sudden the idle will jump up to about 900 - 1000 RPMs and run strange - surging and hestating when I get on and off the throttle. Sometimes near redline, when floored, the car will blow a bit of smoke as well.

Any suggestions? Is it cam timing? Is it my TPS? Is it my MAF?

You might want to try eliminating your egr system....i was having hesitation and surging problems too, so i removed the small black hose from the bpt valve (left most disc shaped thing) to the egr vavle (right most disc shaped thing) and plugged both ends, and now my car runs great. Hope this helps. You also, if you have not already done so, remove the egr hose going to the intake hose and cap the one end on the intake hose with some kinda plug. i used a screw.

i would do that except for the fact that I don't have the problems with those parts because I have a 94. I used to have a 92 which was constantly plagued with that issue.

Get rid of all those Stillen parts, thats your problem. :D

can you give me some more info on that opinion? I am interested in this idea, but I want to know how and why those parts are bad.

Oh, by the way... is the ECU that comes from Stillen programmed for cams or should it be sent back to JWT.

Probably not. Better idea to get the ECU direct from JWT in the 1st place.

How much Hp does that stillen MAF and TB give like anywhere from 3-91hp gain

whoops I meant 3-9 hp gain not 3-91 my bad

I couldn't tell you. The guy that I bought this car from did the work. If it was me, I wouldn't have bought those parts. I hear they don't give any significant gains if any. At this point I'm hoping that they aren't making my problem worse.
