How much is that Hotshot intercooler? Is it worth the money? I see people selling Starion intercoolers for like $100. Damn Hotshot website is down.

Hotshot's BBDET FMIC kit is around $1100. SR20DEV's was a lil bit more. Here's what it looks like behind a new Stillen bumper. http://members.aol.com/seattleser/turboserfront.jpg

I thought your car got stolen? Nice to see you got it back though. Also looks like you got everything back. Maybe next time I head back home we can meet up. 2 white turbocharged 200's.....tight.

Not according to my contact. The FMIC alone is $1100. The $300 downpipe is extra. I talked to Hot Shot about this a couple of weeks ago, though, so something could have changed.

What pipping is included in the SR20DEV's FMIC kit?

Someone in the office must have been confused on the phone; its $1100 with a 3" downpipe, all ceramic coated. I promise :)

Customer service in automotive aftermarket has a long way to go if this is the kind of information that industry leaders give out.its $1100 with a 3" downpipe, all ceramic coated. I promise :)I challenge again, 3"? My contact (ahem) said it was 2.5". As always, ready and willing for correction. ;)

I think the problem was probably semantics. The "intercooler kit" as it is sometimes referred to (should be labeled "DET install kit") is sort-of misleading, because by default, the "intercooler kit" includes a downpipe. You can also purchase the downpipe by itself for ~$300. I have a feeling what happened was something like this:

you: Hi, how much is your intercooler kit?
HS: $1100.
you: ok cool, how much is a downpipe?
HS: $300.

What should have been made clear (and probably wasn't) is that the "intercooler kit" / "DET install kit" includes the downpipe by default. the $300 figure is if you want the DET downpipe but no IC kit. It can also be ordered the other way, i.e. IC kit only, no downpipe. I'll mention this to them and hopefully it will be made more clear the next time someone calls.

Challenge away :) Today when I was welding up some DET downpipes, I'm pretty sure I was using 3" tubing :) It does however neck down to 2.5" just before the cat so it will sit nicely in the stock exhaust hanger and mate correctly to the stock cat. The flexpipe is 3" and there is enough 3" tubing left so a customer can cut the downpipe and go to a full 3" exhaust later if they choose. The section of 2.5" tubing is only maybe 3-4 inches long, just before the cat flange.

I'm sorry you weren't given the correct information the first time, but I hope this cleared things up for you. For the record, I do work at Hotshot, but really have nothing to do with the office/phones/sales etc. I mainly design things, weld, and machine parts.

Let me know if you have any more questions :)

How much HP does the HS intercooler support? I know it's been posted before, but I can't seem to find the post. :( Anyway, I plan on making about 280 whp, which intercooler setup should I get, and yes cost is a factor?

For $280 on a budget, I'd just put a BB TMIC in front of your bumper and call it a day.
