I was looking around on ebay, and there was this low port intake manifold for sale from an old sr20. I have the high port 96 se-r, so I was wondering...are they interchangeable? If they are, would this produce any extra gains from switching? Thanks!

Other way around, man: You have a lowport on your '96. '91-93.5 engines were highport.

Since I got this topic started...what makes a high port intake manifold better?

I just did some searching through old post and verified what I thought. You cannot just swap the manifolds you have to swap the whole head if you were going to do this. I actually am doing this in a way. I have a 97 engine in my shed with a hurt head one it. (did the ol' third to second instead of forth trick, and broke more than just a few rockers, so I put a new engine in the 97.) I now have a 92 with a thrown rod and good head so I am swaping out the heads, and will hopefully soon have a good running classic.

no you cant swap high to low, or low to high without swapping the head. the ports on the head are physicaly in different positions. the high ports are better cause the air fuel mix doesnt have to change direction to flow into the combustion chamber. it goes almost straight down. the low port puts the ports lower odwn on the head so the fuel has to turn south to go into the cylinder. not horrible but not great for high rpm runs.

Ok thanks for that info, even if it came at the cost of your engine! Still wondering what makes it better though...
