I am hoping someone can help me , I fix this and the car will be ready to go. The SE-R will hit the streets, the first time in 4 months.

Here are the symptoms:

Engine is very smooth, doesn't stumble or aything.

-Car idles at around 1500 to 1700 when you first start it vacuum at 22-24.

After the car runs a little while 1 minute or so and you might have to rev it alittle 2.5K and let off, the idle comes down to 800 and vac is 16-17. This only last for about 1 minute.

Once the car begins to warm up the idle begins to increase, 1700- 2000 vac of 26. If I pull the TPS, the idle increases even more.

What could this be?

I would greatly appreciate any help or advice you can offer, I want to get my badboy on the road.

Anyone have any ideas or places I should start looking.

Thanks

I would suspect the aac valve. Go through a factory service manual and do the checks for this. Could be other things to like o2 sensors bad plugs-clogged injectors.

I agree. Some people will call it the IACV/AAC. The haynes manual has a writeup on how to check it.

I looked at the car for about 30 minutes tonight (I won't have time to work until this weekend). I found out a couple more symptoms, I am hoping someone has had these before, so this can be a quick fix.

I addition to the symptoms listed above, after the car is warm if you start it, it will start and surge between 1200-1800 (probably 6-7 times) before it has a steady idle of about 1800.

Does anyone know what is causing this?

Thanks

i have the same problem with my car..still trying to figure out what is going on. Not only does my idle surge pass 1200rpm when TPS is disconnected, my car bogg like something is choking it..you can hear a blah, blah, blah noise once in a while out of the exhaust.

Did you install your IACV backwards?

I bet it's one of three things. 1) Sticking EGR, 2) Gunked up AAC, 3) Backwards installed IACV.

Readjust your TPS (multimeter probe in the middle pin, IIRC. Key on, Eng off). Set to .45v. Then retry to adjust your idle, if needed.

I had the same issue, adjusting the IACV had no effect. Recheck all your vacuum hoses and grounds as well.
