hey guys, i just bought a 93 se-r auto (r.i.p 92 xe) and next to the power mirror controls there is a swivel switch. It says a/t eco, normal, and power
When i have it on eco, to the left, it lights up green, and when i put it to the right, which is the power setting, no light comes up, but it looks like it should light up red, is my setting not coming on? Should this light be comin on? Anyone out there with an se-r auto can help me out?
Thanks,
Steve

I bet the bulb is just burned out. does the OD off light on the dash do any flashing? if it does then there is a problem. but leave it in the middle for most of your driving, well i do. it will go into power whenever you floor it hard and quickly. but here is the self test if you think something is wrong

1. start eng and warm up to normal eng operation tem
2.turn ignition switch to off
3.turn ignition switch to acc
4.set over drive switch to off position
5.move gear selector to D
6.turn ignition to on position (do not start car) check to see if the A/T
check lamp come on for about 2 sec. if yes got to number 7
7.move gear selector to 2 position, set overdrive switch in on position
8.move gear selector to 1 position ,set overdrive switch in off position
9.depress gas pedal fully and release it
10.check power shift indicator lamp, you should get(1) long flash and then
(10) short

Now to tell what the flickers mean

after the 1 long flicker if any other stay on longer here is what the mean
1.revolution sensor
2.vehicle speed sensor
3.tps sensor
4.shift solenoid
5.shift solenoid vale B
6.over run clutch solenoid vale
7.torque converter clutch solenoid vale
8.fluid temp sensor
9.engine speed signal
10. line pressure solenoid vale

If I can find the little button you speak of in my pile of parts I will send it to ya in a little envelope, that is if I can find it :) (I need to get organized)

st32781, how do you like your SE-r auto? Was your XE stick? How does the XE compare to the SE-r?

my xe, was also auto, i really wanted a 5speed, but I got a great deal on this car, and i couldnt pass that up. On my xe, i had k&n 8 inch filter wai, pacesetter headers, mozart (konig rims brand) exhaust, and that car was pretty quick. It was quick till about 40-45 mph, then died till about 55-60, then when i was cruisin it would go all the way to rev limiter. This car is about the same acceleration to 40 mph, but thats when it changes. This car pulls from 40 till redline, even uphill, which wows me everytime i floor it. I got this car in great exterior shape, i needed to change pads all the way around, i replaced the axel back seciton exhaust, with a nice lookin aftermarket muffler from meineke, and i exposed the airbox, to help the car breathe a little better. I am not used to having the flex piping underneath me, which gives the car a bit of a different growl, esp at wot. I think the welds on either end of the "flex piping" are shot, so they are muffler taped closed for now, which makes the muffler sound a lot better. The thing that sold me was the moonroof/sunroof and the kick ass seats ;)

An auto B13 SE-R is faster than a stick B13 XE, both in their stock form. I've driven both and the XE is still slower even with its Variable Valve...whatever Nissan calls it. :(

Also the light that you speak of should light up orange. If you need to get a new switch, here's the part #25130-65Y00 "SWITCH-POWER SHIFT".

IIRC, that eco/power switch you are talking about-changes the shift points on the transmission.
When in "eco" shifts sooner between gears.
In "power", it revs a little higher between the gears.
I had the same exact switch in my 92 Stanza.

Auto se-rs make great daily drivers. I've borrowed bowlcuts many times, its a nice little car. Around town its a lot easier to drive fast and not notice it than my car. If I don't pay attention she'd go 60 in a 30, and you couldn't really notice it. Its geared better for cruising on the highway too, if I recall its top gear was about 500 rpms lower than my 5th.

yea about 500-600 rpm's at 70-75. shes so smooth around town thats part of the problem :p . stop and go traffic is easier on the legs, but i hate the feeling of the engine pulling against the tranny/brakes. i lots of times slip it up into neutral to stop that. just dont feel right. god i miss my 5 speed at times.
