: Timing Light?

:confused: I am going to adjust my timing, but there is one small thing that is confusing me. I keep hearing the "timing light" what exactly is a timing light? and do i need it?? help!!

Its a strobing light that flashes everytime cyclinder #1 fires. This way you point it at the main crank pulley so you can see the timing marks. Since it flashes everytime the first cyclinder fires, the timing marks on the pulley visually appear as if the pulley isn't moving. Then you can rotate the distributor back and forth to set your timing (comparing the timing marks on the pulley with the pointer).

Yes, you need one. Get one from Sears for 35.

If I could go back I'd spend the money on a timing light that has a built in tach, it makes things more convenient.
