I've been on this forum all dam day trying to find out what my problem could be. Here is the rundown. First off this is very intermittent but seems to be happening more frequently. I'll be driving on the highway with steady pedal pressure and all of a sudden it feels like I took my foot right off the gas. RPM's start to drop slowly, at this point if I push in the clutch the rpms will just drop straight to zero and the car will stall. Doesn't matter how fast I'm going. Now if I push the gas in nothing happens. The rpms still drop slowly, but if I floor it the car seems to accelerate but very very slowly till all of a sudden it comes back to life, boost hits 7lbs instantly my car shoots to the right (torque steer), and I'm off like a bat outta hell! Here's a strange thing also, sometimes I can feel the engine lose power when I hit a big bump in the road? Leads me to believe something is loose. Now recently while all this is happens the car shakes violently!! It's bucking and jerking like nothing I've ever felt before! Almost like when you trying to teach someone how to drive 5spd for the first time! But it's happening as I'm going 60mpg down the highway. Actually must look pretty funny to other drivers!

And finally sometimes when I start the car I get the same zero throttle response. The car will start but seem to strugle so I go to give a little rev to get the rpms up and nothing. I will have to floor it and then BAM the rpms shoot up!

I thought all of this could be attributed to a faulty maf so I just replaced it. But still the same probs!!!! The maf did help with the coast down stall, but didn't fix that completely!

I know my pcv is clogged to high hell, could that be any of my problem? My vac line on my FPR is cracking but doesn't seem to be cracked all the way through yet? The battery is very old, the alternator seems ok but I'm not sure. Cap rotor pcv fuel filter are 40k miles old. Pcv was cleaned 20k miles ago, and plugs changed bout the same time.

This is my only car and I drive my daughter around everyday. We drive bout 100+ miles a day. I can't risk being stuck on they highway with my 2 year old. Please help!

Side note when this is not happening the car is a dream! Quiet, smooth, fast, it's perfect!

That happened on my Neon. I replaced the MAP sensor (though, SE-R's don't have these). My first guess would be the MAF. I would maybe replace grounds on the car...maybe reground the MAF. Also, replace the fuel filter. A clogged fuel filter could give the symptoms you're describing.
As a maintenance action, use Seafoam to clean the EGR/PCV, throttle body and crankcase.

the p11 do have MAP sensors. They have both. Don't know exactly what the map does on my car though? My egr is diconnected but still on the car. How do you replace grounds? I checked the screws where everything is grounded and they are all snug and free of any dirt, debris or corrosion.

MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure...it measures pressure on the intake manifold.
If your EGR is disconnected, make sure it's done correctly. I think you're supposed to add screws to block off a couple of the hoses or something. There can't be just open EGR tubes hanging around.
Replacing grounds envolves getting low-gauge wire and actually redoing the ground wires in your engine bay...I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but it would be one more thing to try and can only help.

EGR was disconnected over a year ago. I have the screws in the vac lines. Does anyone know if a bad MAP can cause this problem? I was getting code 1105 the other day?
