Hi, I will be installing my new 3" exhaust all the way on my nx and I have some hard time finding a muffler with a 3" inlet.

I want one with a black body, not stainless (cops magnet). Can you tell me where I should search?

Also do you have see-through resonators and what kind of catalytic converters are you using (hi-flow...)?

If a black body is what you're after, I'd just go to a local department store and get some 1800* barbeque grill paint. Scuff the body with some sandpaper on a power sander to give the paint something to adhere to, and spray-bomb your way to a subdued appearance. You're still going to wind up with big or multiple tips, though; you can only injest what you defficate, as Andreas would say... ;)

i believe the Apexi N1 muffler comes in black... also gold, blue, magenta, and green, as well as the regular stainless steel look... comes in TURBO application and NA application...

-Dynomax #17296 muffler, about $109 from Summit racing. It's stainless, so it won't rust out. 3" in, 3" out, round canister muffler.
-Sheet of 3m sandpaper (320 or 400 grit), about 25 cents at hardware store.
-Can of BBQ grill paint (flat black) or high-temp auto paint (gloss black), about $4.99 at AutoZone, Pep Boys, or even Sears.

There you go. I have that muffler on my car, and love the sound. Love it.

Good luck!

Resonator: Dynomax Bullet Series 3" stainless resonator. Straight-through, perforated core. About $35 from Summit, too. :)

I believe that suggestion is outside the spirit of the question at hand. The point, I think, is to have a muffler that doesn't draw attention to his car. An A'PEXi N1 is anything but subtle.

Hey thanks for the help everybody.

I've finally bought a dynomax 3" in and dual 2,5" out (the nx bumper is right for dual pipe I think).

I bought the bullet series resonator (the longer) 3" in and out.

That should do. Would you mind sharing the part numbers? :)

Most excellent choices. What are you going to do for the rest of your plumbing? VRS? Local shop? DIY?

I don't know what VRS means, but I won't do it myself!

I have a 2.5" downpipe and the rest will be 3" plumbing. I don't know yet if I'll put a hi-glow cat right now. Maybe during summer I'll put one.

BTW Do you what is the cost of a high flow cat?

edit: Yup local shop, I didn't see this one at first! I won't go mandrel, as it's too expensive for the use I will make.

Anyway I think 3" will do the job!

Talk to Miguel at VRS Exhaust (http://www.vrsexhaust.com/) about the cost for 3", mandrel-bent pipes with flanges. You've come this far, there's no sense in cheating yourself out of performance because you can't get a local monkey to do mandrel. Miguel can send you all of the stuff you need, minus mufflers, and you can have a local guy put it together for a Bill or so. Don't be fooled, he doesn't list 3" or B13 applications on his web site, but he does make them.

How much is the VRS exhaust? Also, is it prefabbed except for the muffler and resonator i.e. hangers flanges etc...

Thanks,
Matt

Summit Racing sells hi-flow cats for $59. They're universal ones made by CATCO.

Or, if you have a B13, you could get Dave to make you a mandrel bent exhaust on his jig which allows for PERFECT fitment.
