2007 Sundown Grand Prix a Great Success!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oakville, Ontario – Saturday May 19th brought PH Racing and the #200 Nissan 200 SX car back to the track after an all too long winter break.

The team worked diligently in the week leading up to the event getting the finishing touches put on the car, special thanks go out to Crew Chief Jeff Owen and Terry Martin for the many hours put in as well as the guys at Vertex Fab Worx for their fabrication skills and high quality work as always!

Co-driver Vic Simone, of Simone Performance Imports, took the car out for its initial practice session and pronounced that ‘something was off’ in the setup. The crew immediately started investigating and found that the suspension needed to be adjusted and did so putting it back to the levels that it had been set at in 2006.

Pat Harrison then took the Assured Automotive car out for its qualifying session just after lunch and took 3 seconds off almost immediately. Pat brought the car back in and qualified with a 1:45.031 in C4 Class. “The car was handling perfect,” he said afterwards, “it was good, the tires were a bit slippery, but the suspension and handling were right on the money”.

Driver Vic Simone started the race and was off to a great start! In less than 10 laps he had already moved up a position and was steadily gaining ground. Unfortunately, issues with a fuel pump brought Vic in earlier than expected and cost the team a couple of laps as Pat jumped in and tried to make up lost ground.

Pat started pacing to conserve the tires and fuel and did an excellent job Pat stayed in the car for over an hour and made steady progress. He was clocking steady 1:49’s and then took a couple of hot laps, getting as low as 1:44 before coming in for a final splash of fuel and a final driver change so that Vic would finish the race.

Vic did another fantastic job of driving and managed to keep the now almost finished tires going finishing 6th in C4 class. It may not have been a podium finish, but it was just as good as the team was ecstatic with the performance of the car.

PH Racing would like to thank Jeff Owen for his own great performance as Crew Chief and Terry Martin for all of his hard work on the car and help before, during and after the race. We would also like to thank our sponsors and friends at Assured Automotive (Oaktown Collision) for making the car look the part, as well as Vertex Fab Worx for their valuable help last week in getting the car finished, and Sigma Promotions for making us look good at pit wall.

PH Racing looks forward to their next event Canada Day long weekend at Mosport International Raceway at the BARC Canada Day Grand Prix of Ontario featuring SCCA. For your complimentary tickets please contact Amy at: amy'at'patharrison.ca
