Yes please explain for me ONE MORE TIME! I bought the 91 cam from jackson diamond, and he mentioned (along with thomassr20) that there is an easier way to install it...without following the JWT instructions. Can I just unbolt the old intake cam and replace it with the new intake cam?

Also..as a side question...how do I achieve TDC in the #1 cylinder? It says do something w/ the crank pulley also..where is this? Thanks for putting up with my ignorance once again.

Hmm. From reading your post you don't sound too confident in your abilities - this is a pretty serious thing to do and I would not recommend doing it if you have any doubts. The potential is there to do alot of damage if you're not careful.

You cannot just unbolt the cam and replace. You need to do several things, like zip tying the timing chain to the sprokets, removing the timing chain tensioner, etc....

But anyways to reach TDC you need to rotate the crank pulley which is near theoil pan. Remove the R/F wheel and shroud to access, it is the largest pully. You need to have the pointer aligned with the proper timing mark on the pulley. I forget what that is, though. I'm sure someone knows.

You will know it is at TDC when the first lobe on each cam on the passenger side of the car is pointing AWAY from the engine.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

You might want to ask someone near you for some assistance and get a FSM.

"Can I just unbolt the old intake cam and replace it with the new intake cam?" Yes, if you do it right.

http://www.geocities.com/n_dahi/ I hate to keep posting this site, but thats what its there for right?

I just propped the chain with a lock of wood.

You all should be happy (surprised?) that I DID DID DID install the cam this afternoon. Including 2 trips to discount auto parts, the install was around 4 hours. And I would like to let everyone know that you can simply do one cam instead of removing both sprockets, etc. I followed all instructions until it said remove both sprockets/cams..then I just did what was obvious and unbolted everything, oiled up my new (old actually...91) cam and put it right in. Big thanks goes to Wicked R for his patience with me last night when I was asking him questions on how to make sure timing was right...for two hours! :D Thanks!!! Also thanks to naji for his website was of use, and Jackson diamond for the cam, and for offering some help as well!

THATS RIGHT! And to all who doubted me: no thanks go to you! :D Its alright I was doubting myself. Just took my time, as everyone instructed me to do so...Just not something I would like to do again very soon. :D
